We haven't been yet because of Keira's surgery, we were suppose to go next Saturday, but she has chemo. We're hoping to go on Sunday.

Lol, he was SO happy about it going up there, getting turned around, and putting his face in there, then about 1/2 a second before my dad snapped the photo, he had a meltdown. Poor thing.... Grandpa needs to learn to be faster with the camera! :P

We went a few weeks ago to the Dallas Arboretum. No pumpkin patch per se, but they have lots of pumpkins.

we went last Sunday but with Naomi's birthday party this Sunday I haven't had time to get the pics off the camera. I got some good video too But I'm knee deep in birthday plans, I'll have to try and edit this week.

CUTE pics though! I love them all!

awww.... so cute, y'all!!!

Here are mine... On the first we went to pick apples and they had a row of picked pumpkins - so I had my no so little pumpkin, pose for me...

Then on the next day... the 2nd - my birthday - we went to a petting zoo, and we each got a free pumpkin with admission...

Beautiful photos and LOs.

A cross-cultural question - is this some kind of tradition in the US? If so, tell me more. Halloween as such is not huge here (for commercial reasons it's been imported just as Valentine, but it hasn't really settled), so I'm very uninformed when it comes to it. It might be that the pumpkin patch thing even doesn't have anything to do with Halloween, heh. Still I love to learn about these things.

I love these kind of photos....and I hate living in Europe because of that, LOL!
I guess you just have a lot more holidays to celebrate then we have.

I would never go as far as saying that, LOL. I love Europe, wouldn't want to live anywhere else. It's just I'm curious about other people's traditions.

LOL, Adriana, I don't want to leave Holland aswell....only with these kind of traditions which I like to much by seeing other people's photos I sometimes wish I was in America during those holidays...but that would be a very expensive hobby.

Yes, Halloween (and Thanksgiving, in an American family) might be such a cool experience, but yes, it would be totally an expensive experience, too. :-)

Traditionally, this time of year, people take their kids to farms (or lots if there are no local farms) to pick pumpkins. Depending on where you go, there are sometimes mazes made out of corn stalks, "hay rides" where they take you out to the field where the pumpkins are in a trailer filled with hay and attached to a tractor, haunted houses and more.

Then you take the pumpkins home and carve faces or images into them for Halloween!

Love pumpkin patch photos:
My middle child loved feeding the goats

And all my kids loved this ride behind the tractor - I think the cars were suppose to be pumpkins.

And picking out pumpkins. This was the first year we actually got them from a patch where they were still attached to the vines. My 6 year old was fascinated by this.

First time going to a real pumpkin patch... And of course, the little one absolutely refused to smile. Refused. Sigh.

Well, we made it to the patch. It was quite the whirlwind trip as it was one thing on a long list my mom sprung on me at the last minute, so I will have to go down here at home in the next couple weeks so I can actually enjoy myself and get some good pictures.

Here's Monkey with all the 'PUNKINS! PUNKINS! PUNKINS!':

Here's my (much more cooperative) nephew:

Oh man, I can't wait to do this next year with a little one
We still haven't gone. We like to go to one of the ones in the field and wander around with Tiger. Hopefully sometime this week, or next weekend.

we didn't actually go to the patch as a family but I went with Abby on her school field trip today and it was freezing, my oldest DD went with her boyfriend & best friend last week and Peyton went with my daycare provider earlier in the week! so we didn't all go at once, but everyone has a pumpkin!

We went last Sunday with some new friends. (I actually didn't take too many photos that day) & it was the 2nd time we'd been this year, me & the kids walked there the first part of the month.
It is mandatory that Dad pushes kids in the wheelbarrow, every.single.year. LOL

Anna pretends everything big enough to sit on, is a horse named Bucky. This is Bucky of the patch.

Yes, Grace is really this ornery...always!!

We went yesterday - it was a gorgeous day! Unfortunately, neither girl was being co-operative. Avalynne refused to look at the camera, even once, and every smile was a fake "cheese" smile! So frustrating...

This is the only picture I got of Elora actually looking at the camera & a half smile on her face:

We went yesterday. Getting good pics was darn near impossible because it was sooo bright outside! Here are some of my favs though.

DD and I on the hayride heading to the farm (She's pretty much squinting in 90% of the pics because of said brightness ):

She absolutely loved the baby chicks!

awwwww. these are such cute pictures!!! unfortunately for us, we couldn't have actual patch pictures- Hurricane Irene made all the vines and leaves mildew (and killed all of the pumpkins and gourds that I had growing in our garden!!!) so we just have pictures of the farmstands all set up where they picked what they could salvage. I got a really cute pic of my 2

and a couple solo pics, they're sooo bad at posing for photos right now!!
