When that becomes a problem at our house, we then spend time practicing putting it into the hamper/basket, because obviously its a skill we've forgotten and need to relearn
![]() Same goes for slamming the toilet seat. If you can't close it properly, obviously its a skill we need to relearn ![]() I'm SUCH a mean mommy. |

Andrew got rid of the hampers. Now the clothes is strewn about even more than it was before. Things get rewashed because we never know if it's clean or dirty.

I dont think there is a point to even having a hamper in my house.

I've never actually done this, but every time I think about watching my brother doing it with his kids, I think I should start.

Ok so what do you do when it's your husband? There are times I can't get in the bathroom bc of his dirty clothes. Do I make him practice? Lol. He'd kill me. Ha!

At least they make it that far! In my house, I find socks in the family room, pants on the bedroom floor, shirts on the bathroom floor, and underwear all over the place. It's like my 8-yr-old son is leaving a trail of breadcrumbs in case he gets lost on his way to take a shower!

The worst is when you get all of the laundry done and then a huge pile hidden somewhere.........my oldest does this......

when that happens at our house it doesn't get washed!!!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The little boys are "learning", it helps that I'm usually in the room when they disrobe so I can prod them with gentle reminders to were the clothes belong! But my 7 year old is a little sweetheart and his clothes are always in the clothes basket!! Now my hubby...well he realized 14 years ago he was a lost cause (or he was tired of me harping on him all the time) so he washes his own clothes!!! ![]() ![]()

No idea. I guess its kind of how my husband can get his clothes ON the top of the washer but never IN it.

One of my kids is great about it the other one misses every now and again, but my husband......he laughs about his sock farm. He takes his socks off and lets them pile up next to the bed. He gets ready for work while the rest of us are still sleeping (and doesn't want to wake me up ) so he changed in the living room. There are always clothes draped over chairs , piled on the table and whatnot. He fully owns it and fortunately makes up for it in other ways, there are other things he does that are more annoying LOL

So how do you handle it when the messy one is not your child or husband, but your mother? My mother has lived with me since my father's death and keeping up with her untidiness is beyond me. I do all the laundry and when I go into her room to collect it, I just want to cry. It is like a 14 year old girls lives in there. I've tried everything. I even redecorated for her last year, hoping it would make her want to keep all the new things nice, but it only lasted for a month or so, then it was the same pigsty. If I don't clean it, it won't get cleaned, but I bulk at cleaning up after a grown woman.

It's the same way at my house. DS got a cute dog hamper for Christmas to help him but the kids still leave stuff all around the house, especially in the bathroom. I can't stand clothes being left on the bathroom floor. We've talked about teaching DD (she's 8.5) how to do laundry and maybe that will deter her from leaving them all around.

I didn't even bother to buy laundry baskets for this new house. I decided to spent the money in scrapbook stuff, so I can have some scrap therapy and forget about the clothes everywhere issue.
