Default a funny story to make you laugh

So ..

I always have my hair cut and then dye it to a dark blonde colour.

I had my hair cut on Thursday and picked up my usual dye from the supermarket on my way home on Thursday night.

DH was pottering about in the garden yesterday afternoon, so I decided to get on and stick the colour on my hair - which I did.

I know how long I have to leave it on as I always use the same product so I didn't bother checking (not that I would be able to see anyway as I have to take my glasses off and I am blind without them)

After 30 mins I wash it off, towel off and go look in the mirror.

My hair is yellow - not pretty soft yellow but canary on acid yellow !!

Check the box and I have bought colour stripper instead of lightener

Go and call DH and tell him he has to drive to the nearest supermarket (48 mile round trip) to get me a dark blonde kit to tone it down to something doable.

Off he goes and comes back 90 minutes later with a mid brown with red tints kit
He got to the supermarket and realised he had left his glasses behind - so he could not see what was written on the box.
He had also left his mobile behind so he couldn't text me
and - because the cancer treatment involved him having his voice box removed - he can't talk any more, so he couldn't ask anyone.

I was left with the choice of going to the supermarket with my canary hair which was so not happening as it is guaranteed that I would bump into 100's of people I know - or going mid brown with red highlights.

Mid brown won out. I look weird after being blondish for so long but it's better than the canary yellow That'll teach me to look at the box a bit more carefully

LOL! Oh I have SO done that before! In my 20's I ended up with purple hair once, and orange another time. Just a couple of months ago I thought I'd grabbed the 'cappucino' (brown) hair colour that I usually use, only to find once I'd dyed my hair that it was 'espresso' (black) instead. Doh! I obviously don't know my coffees. LOL!

Oh man! One time I had a home service colorist and asked for chunky golden brown highlights put on my dark hair. She left the bleach on too long--my hair was bright blonde--like Paris Hilton blonde! I had our housekeeper go to the supermarket and buy a box of dark brown color, which I applied to my whole head. The blonde sorta faded into a light brown. Gah, that was horrific.

Oh goodness! I think we've all done that at least once! lol

I remember coloring my hair one time and the red undertones from my natural color won out - I looked like a carrot! It was a 911 call to my hairdresser!

My hair doesn't like the do it yourself colors. I tried it once and it turned out purple, which was cool when you are 16 (which I was), but not now. So I stick to paying someone to do it. I bet the brown looks nice on you.

Ha! This is totally what I would do if I left it up to me. I pay the $$$$ for my hair girl to do it. It is the only way to avoid disaster. I am so impressed with gals that can do it at home though. I wish I was in the "at home hair club".

I'm with Tara. If I tried to do it on my own it would be a horrible disaster each and every time. Once time I let my stylist chose my color and when it was all done she asked what I thought and I told her that was the last time she got to choose. I was okay with the red, but the blonde highlights she added tuned out pinkish and I hated that. I also hate the bumble bee thing, you know when you have dark hair and they put the blonde hightlights in and there is too much contrast and you look like you have a bee's butt on your head. Ugh.

Rachel, show off the new color. I bet you are still beautiful.

Oh, no! Even though you didn't end up with your usual color, I'm glad you weren't stuck with canary yellow. The only time I've tried to dye my hair (at 18), you couldn't tell I'd done anything to it because my natural color is so dark.

Yikes! I am afraid to dye my hair by myself so I always go to salon to have it done.

Yeah, let's see the new color

I hope you took a pic of the canary yellow. That would be a fun one to scrap.

I've got to get used to this colour before I can face taking a photo !! Definitely didn't take one of the bright yellow - although Kristins Vitamin D kit would have been perfect to scrap it !!!

Oh no! LOL. I can't even cut my own bangs and have it look decent so I certainly don't try my own highlights.
