Default we got some good news this week

I contacted our state representative and told her about the accident and how medicare had a lien on anything we received from our insurance company. She wrote back within a few days saying she would be glad to work on it for us and we had to sign a release. We signed the release and just got a call from her office telling us medicare has completely dropped the lien and it is settled. Our insurance adjuster had been working on that since the accident happened and could only get medicare to lower the amount owed to 84000 which is far more then our insurance settlement would cover. So I guess our government is good for something I personally think the jerk who hit my husband should be on the hook for the full amount of medical expences plus some but he has absolutely nothing of his own and still lives at home with mommy and daddy at 27 (even though he has three kids who he does not support).

Glad they were able to help you out! Wow. It is amazing what a little grease to the wheel will do. Hope this is the first of many good things to happen for your family. You all need a break and deserve the best. ((HUGS))

Thanks Tara. I was honestly just hoping they would agree to take what insurance had offered not to just cancel it out. But I was amazed at how fast they were able to get it done and talking to the people in her office they were all so nice.

HUGE WEIGHT!! I was really worried if they would not agree to what we had in insurnance available because I had read online that medicare would only give you 60 days to come up with what was owed. I knew there was no way we could cover that much money but I just tried not to worry to much about it until it became a reality.

I am so happy for you Jessica! Medical bills are the last thing anyone needs to worry about during an illness or an injury.

Great new Jessica! And, you're right - the guy who caused the accident should be responsible for this stuff. Obviously, he doesn't have that kind of money, but neither do you. They should be putting a lien on HIM! So, glad you were able to get some help with that!
