Angry This just fries my bacon!!!

I live in a small town, what could be considered the country I guess, and tonight we had someone drop off a litter of kittens near our house. We weren't aware of it and two of them were killed on the road. We rescued a third one, all black and so tiny. I already have 5 pets, 4 of them were rescue animals and one was a stray that we took in. I can't possibly take in another animal so I spent almost the entire evening calling up everyone I know asking them if they could give this tiny baby a home. My son finally contacted a school mate whose parents do pet fosters for a shelter and they agreed to take the kitten and find it a good home. I am so relieved I could cry. It was the sweetest thing and it breaks my heart that we had to go out and bury it's two litter mates. What is wrong with people that they can do something so heartless? It boggles my mind

So sad! I have three cats in the house and although I sometime want to put them behind the wallpaper I love them to death. I can't imagine doing that to anything.

Yeah, it is an awful thing to do and it just makes me so sad and angry all at the same time. The little kitten is doing well with her foster family, in fact their daughter, my son's friend, is thinking about keeping her herself. I hope she does. The kitten is still very little, but they are feeding it the right stuff and litter training it. Honestly it is so little I didn't know how best to take care of it and I was terrified my dogs would kill it. They are frou-frou dogs with killer instincts. If it wasn't for them and the fact that I already have a houseful, I would have been tempted to keep it too.

That's so awful. I'm such a sucker for kitties that I probably would have kept it, but it's so sad that people do that. Glad you were able to sort a home.

Lorie I agree. 3 of my five cats are rescues and we love them all dearly but with two dogs and two sons, I can't give anymore a proper home...it breaks my heart to read stories like this.

That's so sad. I saw that a lot when we lived in the country. Sometimes I think people just feel desperate and don't know how else to find homes for the little ones so they leave them somewhere hoping they will be rescued. I say this because I know someone that did just that. She feels awful about it today (and its been years and years) but didn't feel she had other choices at the time. She had tried to give them away to friends, family and even in front of Walmart but no one took any. She tried the shelters and they told her they wouldn't take them either. We have crappy shelters around here. When we had to rehome our dog we took her out of state to a good no-kill shelter because no one around here would take her. I hated to have to find her a new home but she was growing at my 1 year old and my neighbor, who was like a grandma to my kids and over at our house a lot, was terrified of her.

oh that is just so sad I don't understand for the life of me how can someone do that? So glad you were able to get the little kitty a good home.

I feel bad that I couldn't keep it, so I can't imagine living with myself if I left it to die. Of course I am the silly willy who gets sad every time I see a dead animal by the road. My drive to work can be really long some days.
