Default Asking for you help...please read this

I am asking for your help in gettng this out to more people. Please sign my petition and share it with friends and family as well. My son is gone and the man responsible has not received any repercussions financially, criminally...nothing. I am not advocating for EVERYONE who runs a red light to be thrown away for life but I feel that if you agree to get your license you sign that license and say you agree to follow the laws of the road. This is not something that just appeared out of nowhere. People know a red light means stop. Again this light was red for well over 30 seconds before he blew right through. Many people think like I did that if you kill someone at a red light you will be charged with vehicular homicide or manslaughter and that you are automatically tested for drugs/alcohol but neither are true.

If you do not want to sign this I understand but just think for a second how it would feel to wake up everyday for the rest of your life knowing the person responsible for killing your child never answered to what he did. Oh and please for the love of God slow down if you find yourself blowing through a red light. I know you think oh I dont want to be in an accident because I hit my brakes but you know what? Would you rather be the cause of someone else being hurt or killed because you didn't? Those few seconds of YOUR time you save could be someone elses last.

Good luck with your petition Jessica. You are right, there should be consequences for failing to obey the traffic laws and causing a death. May I also say, bravo to you for standing up and trying to make a change.

Thanks Lorie. I have to do this. It is not something I want. I have always felt like this and seeing how badly people drive has always been upsetting to me but until I found out that people can actually kill someone and not be punished at all and not just that but this guy has had his license suspended SIX TIMES!!! It is insane. Talking to the FHP investigators just about broke my heart. So many people are in the same boat as me and it is horrible to be told sorry nothing we can do. So I know I can do this. It was done in Arizona. It can be done here too. All I ever wanted to do was be a mother and losing my son has left a huge hole in my life and my heart. But moreso then how I am feeling my son DESERVED to live!! So because he can never fulfill his dreams I will work to make this happen so someone else will hopefully be saved. I am hoping to eventually go back to school to get a degree in either social work or criminal justice and become a victim's right advocate. The position I am in is very lonely and it sucks to feel like your rights and your childs rights come behind what a criminals rights are and that goes way beyond car accidents. This is not the first time I have been let down by our justice system. Not that I want to get into what I have been though just that it really does seem like our system is beyond broken and something needs to change.

Signed, though I had to say I'm in FL and not the UK. Hope you get somewhere with this, I'm sorry about your son and can't believe what a joke the system is!
