Agreed! Printer ink is stinkin' expensive. It would be actually be cheaper for her to print them at Kinkos or somewhere like that.

What's the hard part? Get her to do all the downloading, or arranging onto a letter or A3 sized canvas in photoshop. Then she can research where to print it and how much it will cost. Then either she waits till you next go into town to print it, or she pays you petrol money for a special trip.

If she's not interested in doing it that way then she obviously doesn't want the posters bad enough. I rarely let my kids print out stuff at home.

Well apparently I need to grow a little because the 'hard part' for me is telling my daughter 'no.' Good lord, how pathetic is that???? Never thought I would fall into this trap. GRrrrr.

Ok. I am DETERMINED now. I am going to stick to my guns and help her figure out an alternative that does not include the murder of my ink cartridges. (eeek! I'm so weak!)

I totally get that it's hard to say no to the kids, but we are doing them a disservice if we are not helping them grow some independence and responsibility in their tween years. It's only going to get harder as they get older, so best they learn it now.

Think of it not as telling her 'no'. Rather a 'yes with conditions'. Yes she can print her posters if she is prepared to do the work and accept the cost.

I agree, it only gets harder as they get older. And some kids do better if they hear why you are saying no or let them be part of the team finding a solution that works for everyone. As a family of legal minded people my girls have already gotten good at the art of negotiation and they are only 5 and 7.
