Thumbs down Winkflash

I am not impressed.
The book was cheap. You can't beat 100 pages for $20 but now I see why. I ordered it on Thursday and got it in the mail today. Shipping was super fast obviously, but the book- TERRIBLE! I am so disgusted. The pages all look faded, like something I could print here at home with my HP 3 in 1 with the ink cartridges about to die.
From now on I'll save my money for shutterfly regardless of how expensive they are.

Anyone else have experience with winkflash? It's the worst quality prints/book, etc.. I've ever ordered. I would not recommend it to anyone.

I just got an email back from them talking about how they use industry standard this and that and I may need to calibrate my monitor, blah blah BLAHHHHHHH and if I send the book back they will refund me. Well woopty doopty doo it will cost me almost as much to send it back as the book did.
If the problem was on my end then I would have experienced this with shutterfly or somewhere else by now.
HMPH. No more winkflash for me.
End rant.

oh that stinks. Sorry that happened to you. I hear mixed reviews about Winkflash. I've only used Shutterfly for books so far (thinking of trying Viovio (? not sure of name) ) and have been happy with the SF ones. But I've heard of people having bad experiences with SF.

I am sorry you had bad luck, that stinks.......All that hard work for nothing (

I had fantastic luck with my 2 books & 2 calenders that I got from them for Christmas presents. I will admit the book was not a very high quality but the pics all came out FANTASTIC. I have not used them since then though.....

I was not thrilled with my Shutterfly book. I LOVED the book itself (great quality) but some of my layouts were all pixely, and YES I uploaded them all the same size and ppi !!!!

I also have ordered pages from Scrapbooks Please ( I believe they do hardcover books now too!!) and the quality is great from them but I have had terrible customer service in the past so I don't know if things have changed or not...They do have great sales fairly often.

I loved my shutterfly books. Awesome quality from them.

It sounds to me like it's hit or miss regardless of who you use. Hmm..

At least they are fast communicators in my experience.
Check out this email. Apparently the quality is at the discretion of Winkflash and they get to decide whether or not it is crap. HMPH

Dear Amy,

We're very sorry for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, as per our return
policy orders must be sent back to receive a refund or reprint.

Once returns are received, we evaluate whether or not it is a processing
error
. If deemed misprinted by the returns department, any associated USPS first class or priority mail shipping charges will be refunded to the
account back to the credit or debit card. Then the items will be reprinted
as originally ordered and shipped out to the original address (unless you
decide you would rather receive a refund). We can attempt to reprint the
book if you like; if the results of the reprint are better than that of the
original, we will re-send the book to you at no cost and refund your return
shipping. Please note that a reprint is exactly what you received in the
initial shipment with corrections for any misprints.

However, if the book was processed without any errors, you would only be due a product refund. Once again we apologize for this and appreciate your
business. For more information on our return policy please refer to the
following link.

That stinks!!!! I highly recommend Viovio. Their prices are awesome for the quality. It's a little slow and you have to have patience figuring things out because the site is not that great--but the outcome turned out fabulous (and I have used shutterfly many times as well). I have no affiliation, I am just a happy customer.

Oh and I had a bunch of problems getting mine ready but their customer service was fabulous!

hmmm interesting. I mean, I guess it makes sense that they have to compare it to what they are capable of... but yeah-- I don't know about that. If the customer is unhappy, you should fix it!

I ordered Christmas cards from them and they turned out fine. I order books through Shutterfly though. I got a calendar made at Scrapbook Pictures and that turned our fine too.

I have been using Winkflash to get pics developed for a few years and have never had a problem. Up until last month that was the only I ever had done there. I just started digi scrapping this past Nov. and had never had a book made so when the sale came up I decided to give it a shot. Now with me not having anything else to compare it too I was very pleased. BUT like I said I don't have anything to compare it too. The pages weren't as vibrant as what I was hoping but at the same time I really didn't know what to expect. After getting this book printed and hearing your complaints about your book I am REALLY anxious to get a book through shutterfly now. I knew that $20 was REALLY cheap for getting that many pages. I'm so sorry you are so dissapointed with your book. I know that I would be really upset too.

I'm in the process of creating my second book through them. The first one was tough because the site is a little hard to navigate but this second one has taken me only about 1/4 the time I took to make the first it's so much easier the second time around!!!

Plus I got a 36 page 8.5x8.5 soft bound book for $16.90 Can't beat that!!!

Bummer. If they agree to refund you if you send it back...I would also insist that they send YOU a pre-paid label to ship it back to you or reimburse you for that somehow.

It's good to know. I've always been pleased w/Winkflash's photos and have only done books through Shutterfly. The photo quality in the book weren't as great as the photos. I'll probably stick w/shutterfly for books until I hear that it's gotten better.

Maybe since I had two awesome, and I mean vibrant brilliant Wooohaaa gorgeous books through shutterfly- that's why I'm not happy with it. Really they are all I've had to compare them too in the way of books. I've ordered the individual pages from elsewhere but not books. I'm glad other people have liked their winkflash- maybe I will give them another shot.

I'm sorry to hear you were disappointed. I haven't done books anywhere, but I've done calendars through Winkflash and Shutterfly and cards through Winkflash. The cards were nice and the price was great, so I'd definitely order cards through them again. The calendars were so-so. At the time I was satisfied (though not wowed) because I had nothing to compare to. After doing Shutterfly calendars this year, I can say that the Winkflash ones were much lower quality and they won't be getting my calendar business again.

I have never heard of winkflash before but have used shutterfly for just photo books. I loved my photo books and am working on my first book now for my pages. I am SO excited to see my project come to completion! I def will stick with shutterfly, but if you do give them another shot i would love to hear how the second one turned out. Hugs, sorry you had a rough experience!

I used Winkflash earlier in the year to print a book full of photos (not scrapbook pages) and was very pleased with the results.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with them

I haven't tried winkflash but I have ordered from Viovio and Shutterfly. Here are my comments.
1. I love the price of the Viovio book 112 pages hard bound book for $51.00 with shipping, great book, wonderful quality the best thing ever.
2. I got all my shutterfly books from free coupon codes so I can't complain much but I really didn't find them worth what they would have cost me to print. My pictures are pixellated and grainy and they don't look very high quality.

I do need to say the shutterfly book was just pictures not layouts and the viovio book was layouts.

I would print from viovio again anytime and I am getting ready to order my mil and mom books for mother's day.
