Default Don't you hate it when....

.....Photoshop gets the "Photoshop has stopped responding.." error, then it shuts down on you before you had a chance to save? There goes that LO. I was almost done!!

I've had it happen in pse6 and psp and I am NEVER a happy camper. It's a shame that the adobe programs don't have an auto save feature in them.

PS7 does, but CS and above don't. I just looked it up because one of the managers at work is a BIG computer geek like me and we were (surprise) talking about computers and how we do/don't let our kids use them...he told me to see if there was autosave because the version of PS he had did allow it. Anyway, I found out 7 did, but CS, CS2, and CS3 don't have the option.

I know, though, that you can set timers up on your computer to do things randomly for you, so I'm thinking of seeing if I can make it autosave for me. Otherwise, I lose WAY too much stuff...I should have learned by now, having lost 4789152894 things, but no...I still don't save regularly! LOL!

Ohhh, I had that happen recently after a particularly labor intensive layout, and I was sooo mad I immediately did the whole dang thing again, but it went much faster the second time around LOL! Actually ps didn't shut down on me, I accidentally clicked it away. I was so mad at myself. Now I try to remember to save it a few minutes in with a file name, then click save every few minutes so I don't completely lose it again (in more ways than one LOL)

Been there. Done that.

I'd like to know exactly what these "errors" really are!

Oh I hate that! I've become so careful about saving as I go, because I find that when I lose a LO, I won't feel like going back and doing it over.

I was told it's in the preferences/options.

I was just doing a search to see if I could find it and there ARE programs out there you can buy to autosave for you. The one I came across was $20 - not sure if that's worth it or not...I might try it out.

ETA: Here's the link for the autosave program: http://www.atopsoft.com/ - I'm doing the trial to see how it works...

Hey Bree, give us a report on that, okay? I think spending $20 to avoid frustration is worth it! But, I want to save it as a different name each time if that makes sense. I sometimes play around and want to backtrack to an earlier version of my layout/design.

Julie, it saves originally and then does a backup each time too, so if you screwed up and want to go back to what it was like 10 minutes ago, you can. BUT, lol...I can't figure out how to open up the backup files (I think you just have to rename the file, but I'm not sure), and I don't actually want it for that feature so I turned it off and just have it autosave every 3 minutes and not create the backup files.

So far I'm liking it...it's a simple program and it's not doing anything whacky with my computer, which is a bonus! LOL!

This happened to me the other day! I had saved, but not in awhile so I had to go back and recreate most of the LO!

Oh man, sorry about that! I totally hate it! Or when it just shuts down with no warning. And I NEVER learn! I never save as I'm working so I ALWAYS lose what I'm working on! The good point is that it will be easier to put together the 2nd time!

I don't have a clue what you're talking about. I live in a perfect world where I remember to save frequently and have never lost a layout.

Yup. SAVE SAVE SAVE is the only thing that may help. Not like it makes it okay.

i usually do try to save often here and there, but this one was just frustrating me and i kind of forgot. All i had to do was put the title on it and i was done. I also know that Vista and PSE6 have had issues so that may be my problem, lol.

I haven't had the error, but I have had the lovely things happen where I go to close a paper or element that I just used, and I close the layout I was working on instead.... I've done that a lot, and I usually just want to scream.
