Default July 2019: Passport FAQ

If you have any questions regarding THIS month's Passport challenges, please post them here.

We have a wonderful team and community here at SSD....
so someone is sure to get back to you ASAP with answers to anything and everything related to our Passport Challenge System!

Here is a list of this month's challenge prompts for easy reference:

#1. One Little Word : Getaway
You can use this word as/in your title work, within your journaling, or simply let it inspire the direction of your layout.

#2. Product : Scrap with a product found in our Vacation category!

#3. Featured : Natalie + KCB
Our featured designer articles have been expanded since we started our alphabet inspired series, and are showcased on the blog each time a new designer goes into the spotlight. Your challenge is to use any solo product from one of our featured designers this month PLUS discover something from either Natalie or KCB's interviews this month to use as inspiration for a layout, be sure to tell us what inspired you in your gallery comments!

The following are a few ideas on how you may glean inspiration from a FD interview... Using this interview with Meg [featured in December] ... You might be inspired by the red and white cookie jars in her kitchen to scrap a red & white layout. Maybe you'd like to include the quote she shared “The Best Thing About Memories Is Making Them” on your page, maybe you were inspired by the letter “G” to scrap your own OLW starting with the letter G... or perhaps you might simply want to lift one of the layouts created by the Babes to show off the FD freebie. It’s totally up to YOU to decide how you'd want to be loosely inspired by one of our FD blog posts.

#4. Inspired By : Maps!
Create a layout that includes a map or items and elements created using a map print.

#5. List : Lifelong Travel Log
Scrap a layout featuring a simple list of all of the places you’ve traveled in your life!

#6. Leaving Love :
Leave love on 15 layouts in the gallery and then post the link to each in your tracker thread.
Create your own place marker by using your favorite layout you've left love for during the month to "hold" that spot on your card ♥
Right click on a page in the gallery and save... follow by resizing this saved image to 97 X 97 before adding it to your Passport tracker image.

#7. Photography : Planes, Trains and Automobiles!
Scrap a photo of your view taken from inside a plane, train or automobile.

#8. Quote : Use the following quote on your page.
“Wherever you go, go with all your heart.” - Confucious

#9. Seasonal : July 3rd is Compliment Your Mirror Day.
With the spirit of this fun day in mind, scrap a selfie and give yourself some love!

#10. Typography : Traveling Typewriter
Download and use this classic font on one of your layouts this month.

#11. Wild Card : Scrap anything you'd like for this challenge ♥

#12. Composition : Traveling Titlework
We love this layout by SugarBabe Rebecca featuring a title traveling down her page!
Use this idea to create a fun title with shadowed letters that spill out across your layout!

#13. Journal : The Path Not Taken
Scrap a page that tells the story of a trip that’s gone untaken. This can be a trip you’ve been dreaming about that is out of reach or still in the works, or it can be something deeper that tells the story of a path or journey that you may have wanted to take in your life but didn’t for whatever reason.

#14. Currently : Reading...
After all, there’s no easier way to get away or go on a journey than in a book!

#15. Color : Scrap with this month’s color swatch.
It should be obvious that the page you've created was inspired by the colors featured in the swatch image posted below.
** You don’t necessarily have to use all of the colors shown [use 2, or 3, or all 5] **

#16. Rewind / Flashback : Kraft Paper White Space Layouts
This design approach used to be all the rage! Scrap your own version of this gorgeous scrap style.

#17. Scrap Stash : Travel Themes
There have been a lot of travel kits released over the years here at the sweetest spot in town. This month, we're challenging you to dig through your stash to scrap with a travel related kit from any of our designers past or present!

#18. Scraplift : Hosted on the Blog
On the first Sunday of each month, Sugarbabe Kim E. will host an inspiring Scraplift Challenge on the SSD Blog.
You have the entire month to play along and complete your page.

To keep in mind while you're scrapping...
These prompts are written and created with fairly broad themes/concepts in mind and I think that personal interpretation is key. You can certainly approach a prompt literally, or I encourage you to think about it in a different way ... take a creative approach on ways to apply prompts so that they'll work for you and your family.

Is it only Natalie and Kristin that we can use for the Featured Designer spot? Can we not go with Cindy and her interview?

Default Natalie or Natasha?

Hi, I'm a little confused...it says for Featured Designer thingo that it is Natalie and links to Ponytail Designs...

But it seems her name on the Blog post is Natasha?

So which is it? haha. And just to confirm, it's Ponytail Designs kits that we can use or KCBs for #3?

Thanks
Ashly

I was uploading my scraplift page when I realized I may have flubbed. I don't know if this one came from the "Sugar Babe Gallery" so... Did i just do my Wild Card or is it one from the Sugar Babe? Lol. I love the page either way I just need to know what direction Im going in for future passport layouts.

Heres the original:

It's Nat (Natasha); I'm sure it was just a typo.
You can tell it's her based off of her being the featured designer with the S is for Summer Free With Purchase that just hit the store this New Release Weekend

If you are scraplifting that layout, it's from community member Jill, who isn't a Sugarbabe.

If the layout doesn't meet the scraplift qualifications, I would totally use it as the Wild Card Layout--one more layout done is one more layout done for completion, right?

but no one answered if it was ok to use Cindy as well.... I have a page on the go using a template of cindys but was inspired by her FD interview to use it along with one of her favorite designers... not that I 'need' every layout to match a challenge, but I was excited that for once I actually had an idea for this particular challenge category lol

I have noticed several people have combined the color challenge with another, using one layout for both challenges. Can we do this???

I'm betting the answer is no because although her templates were the FWP until July 12, Cindy's interview was posted 6/28. Hopefully someone official replies soon!

That makes sense. I was just confused because Crystals FD spot overlapped may and june (but was more in June) so hers was allowed for the June challenge so I was only looking for clarification. The slight difference between 3 days and 1 isn't much, but I totally get how that would be enough

I don't know how technical they get when it comes to that so don't just take my word, I might be wrong.

The answer is no. Cindy's FD interview is qualified for last month's challenge, but not this month.

No. It's one layout for a challenge prompt.
Sometimes, the sugarbabes do post a layout that can showcase how you can tackle more than one prompt, but it does not mean you can make a layout for multiple prompts.

That is what I thought and is why I asked. I knew I did not see where a rule change had been posted. It was your gallery I saw them doubled up in. Thanks for clarifying!

Would a destination kit (around the world...) work for the travel theme? I have plenty of travel theme kits, too, just tossing ideas around.

For #2- Vacation product- I was hoping to use Kelly Bang Creative's 50 States Nevada collection- but it's not listed in the vacation category- even though the california & florida collections are. Is it still okay to use? Shouldn't it be included in that category as well? Thanks!
