Default Any composters here?

I've decided to take the plunge into the exciting world of composting.

I don't know much about it though. I'm thinking of getting this compost bin. I don't have a need for compost. I'm just tired of throwing away coffee grounds and fruit/vegetable peels.

The idea of a worm farm intrigues me too but I don't think I could properly care for worms.

Any tips?

thanks

oh in middle school we had a compose pile and we just toss stuff in you should prolly put some wormies in there to break down the compose....you can put egg shells in there I can't remember but I am pretty sure they are good for the worms....the base of ours consisted of some old leaves we started ours in the fall and we put banana peels in there (great source of potassium for plants), really any and all fruits and veggies and if they spoiled we would put the whole veg. or fruit in. And when ever we raked the yard that whould go in there too.....we have a mini pile now but haven't done much with it because we are looking to move we just haven't found the right home and well I didn't want to start something that wasn't going to be used. you know

We compost All the fruit and vegetable peelings, tea bags, grass cuttings, egg shells (crush them up first) and also the kitchen roll middles (tear them up into small pieces). Last year was our first year of filling it up and we put our own compost on our garden this summer. Have to confess that whilst I don't mind throwing the new bits in the top I was well clear of it when they emptied it - far too many creepies for my liking

We used to compost when we lived in Virginia -- great way to get rid of kitchen and yard waste. But now that we live in AZ, there's no place to PUT the composted dirt -- it's all just gravel here.

I've never composted before but I did see an episode of Ellen where they had someone on the show who is a composting expert or something and showed all about how it works. Worms absolutely gross me out though so I could never do it lol!
