Default kitty despair

sorry for another kitty thread.

this is my 2nd time writing this b/c kitty shut down my browser window the 1st time.

anyway, thought Miffy was doing better with using litter box. But yesterday she pooped and pee'd behind entertainment center. Fortunately pee went on foil so easy clean up. yay .

This morning I see her behind there again and am trying to get her out. She's on a piece of foil looking at me. Then I hear it . . . the sound of cat urine hitting heavy duty foil.

AAAAAAAAAAAAARgh.

So apparently I have trained cat to pee on foil?

I may send DH out to get some boards or something so we can cover up the gap btwn entertainment center and wall.

Oh my goodness...I hope she learns quickly! We use to have cats that would go right outside their litter boxes onto the floor, even when the litter was completely clean. We changed the litter, they were just very fussy.

That is just the weirdest thing EVER, Mimi. Cats aren't supposed to like the feel of foil on their feet.

I do have to say that your kitty is odd! LOL Most cats hate going elsewhere and only go because of necessity.

I have to say Mimi, you have a lot more patience with that crazy kitty than I would have! That kitty would have been kicked to the curb by now if it was me lol!! Hope you get her straightened out soon!

It might be that she doesnt like the litter you are using? I have three cats in the house and one of them doesnt like using the litter box with the other cats already using it. She stand on the veery edge with her paws on the edge and balances. I just cannot describe this well enough. It totally cracked me up the first time I saw it. I have another who gets in there and digs like she is digging to China.

That is strange meems!
She's probably just fine, but I would make sure she doesn't have anything going on like UTI's or anything like that. Sometimes cats will pee in strange places if they have some sort of infection.
Before we moved my two kitties were strictly indoor cats. They are very picky and would never use a dirty litter box....I mean if there was one little piece of anything in there they would not set their paws in the box. If I didn't get it changed by 9 in the morning, they would go use it in the bathroom sink At least they tried to go to the bathroom LOL but they didn't make it to the toilet. I remember buying some weird brand litter once and they would just scratch and sniff forever and acted like they hated it.

Good luck, I hope kitty gets the hang of it soon!

I think you should give yourself plenty of pats on the back for teaching it to pee on foil! And the idea on lining the kitty litter with foil is worth considering!

Good Luck with it - cats are stubborn beasts!
Im with the dog concept!

I havent seen your other threads but have you tried MAKING the kitty scratch the litter?
When we brought our kitties home they were having accidents on the floor, too, but we read up on it online and whatever site it was mentioned taking the kitty's paw and scratching in the litterbox. We then proceeded to keep them in the bathroom til they learned that litterbox is for potty'ing.
My cat is actually pregnant right now and I'm thinking of doing toilet training for the babies when they're old enough.

Crazy question. Have you checked with the local vet for suggestions on her behavior ( i know, dh has trouble with seeking help for cats), but it's not something you'd have to pay for.
And it might be that she doesn't care for the litter you're using,as someone suggested before.

thanks for the suggestions and replies.

DH cleans out litter every day but maybe he is doing crappy (ha ha, pun intended) job.

I have done the scratching paw thing with kitty. I have no idea how to tell if she doesn't like the litter. She does use it but also goes behind the entertainment center too. I certainly don't want to have to try out every litter on the market.

I did find out that the previous owners had her poop on newspaper.

Amy, that is funny about the cats using the sink!

I am perplexed. Cat on thin ice around here.
