Default I can't scrap backwards

for me scrapping backwards means starting with photo and then finding kit/papers/elements. This is NOT working for me, arrrgh. Usually I start with kit or whatever and then find a photo to go with. I'm trying to make my calendar. I am really going to try to finish tonight ha ha ha. I only have like 5 months to go . . . or was it 6 . . . doomed . . . I am doomed.

Mimi, I totally start with the kit too. Sometimes, I purchase a kit with an event or set of pix in mind, and then pick the right picture to go into my layout.

LOL, now I know why all of your LOs are so fabulous. I can only scrap if I choose photos first. And of course I can never narrow it down to just one, so I end up with so many photos it's sometimes hard to make the page work.

you 2 are just freaks. I don't know how you scrap this way

what i meant was that I get the kit first. Then I find photo to use with. BUT I when I actually start to scrap I start with the photo that I had chosen (but kit had been determined first).

With my calendars, I am starting with photo and have to find kit to match. My head is going to explode.

I can usually do it both way. When I do calendars, I find a picture that I took in that month the previous year. If the colors don't work with the page, I make the pic B&W.

Any other time, I start with the photos unless it's for a CT assignment.

This is so interesting reading how everyone does it differently. I ALWAYS put the photo in my layout first, then search for papers and elements and then work around it. I cannot imagine creating a page and then trying to find a picture to go with it! Boggles my mind! lol

I am such the opposite. I need a photo and then go through my stash to match the pic. If I did it the other way, I would never get anything done!

This is exactly what I was thinking. Photos are always my inspiration for a page!

When I scrap, I choose the kit AND the photo early, then scrap the page and throw the photo on at the end. Usually. Sometimes the photo is on earlier if I'm not sure that it'll "match" my page. Especially if I'm using templates.

I do it both ways. I find that sometimes a page comes together faster without the photo and sometimes I need a photo to inspire the page

I always pic the picture first and then find a kit to complement it. And if I can't, I change the pic to black and white or recolor elements to suit. I have a really hard time doing it the other way around.

I can go all sorts of ways. In fact, for a while now I was making a page as if it was a quick page and then picked a photo at the end, before adding a title and journaling, of course. I've gone back to starting with a kit or photo in mind ... but it was very different to basically have a page done and add the photo! LOL!
