Default it burns!!!

I woke up this morning pretty early like around 4:30 AM because my eye was kinda irritated. It had been watering and it burned a little. As time went on today it started swelling and I looked in the mirror there is a little white bump on the outside of my eye just below my lower eyelid and my eye is not almost swollen shut and it hurts sooo bad. I am hoping that it will get better on its own and Ive been putting drops in it. My husband says it looks like I got bit by something. I know I cannot afford the extra expenses of a doctor and medication right now though. This just really sucks. I honestly dont think its pink eye because ive had it before and it doesnt feel like that but Im not really sure what else it could be.

Yeah, sounds like a stye to me. I had one once, and it sure was painful! But if I remember right, it went away on its own.

It definitely sounds like a stye to me. Do the warm compress thing with it and you should be ok. I know that the wiki article Dawn posted mentions a polysporin product for the eye, but my ophthalmologist swears that it's the devil incarnate (he's a funny old man, stinks like crazy, but he's good at what he does AND specializes in a neuralopth condition I have). Anyway, if the compress thing hasn't worked after a few days, it might be a good idea to have it looked at.

It could be a stye. The only discharge is a clear watery discharge. Just seems like we cant catch a break at all lately. Ive been using the warm compress and putting some of those over the counter pink eye drops to help ease the stinging and burning which they do help with that. My husband said it looks like some of the swelling has went down too.

Sounds like a style to me, but the only concern I have is the stinging. I've gotten styes all my life and they've never stung. I mean, the bump hurts like hell, but my eyes never stung....

I don't know. When it comes to eyes, I don't mess around. It might be worth getting checked out.

Also, if the stye doesn't rupture on its own and start to go away, you need to have it checked out. Sometimes (not very often at all) they have to be lanced.

Good luck. Styes suck.

The only time I've ever had a stye sting is when it's also under the lid. Those sting kind of like when you get shampoo in your eye.

well I am pretty sure it was a stye now. I had a warm compress on it almost all night and couldnt really sleep because it hurt whether my eye was open or closed. This morning where thee bump was you could see a tiny little hole and it started seeping stuff out of the hole. I pushed on it a little and it doesnt have anything left in it and now it doesnt hurt quite as much. Alot of the redness is gone. I think the stinging is because the bump was right on the edge of my eyelash and when I blinked it kinda rubbed against the eye which was irritating/stinging. More or less though it just feels like it would if my eye was bruised around it. I thought Id had a stye before but never had anything like this. It is a pain.

Yep, sounds like you had/have a stye. Those suckers are the pits. And you're so right about the "bruised" feeling. Ugh. Glad its feeling better!
