Default This is getting really old..

every day, for weeks it seems..
I wake up with a *killer* headache.. load up on pain killers throughout the day.. and then at the end of the day, go to bed with a *killer* headache. WTF. I hate this... I'm 99% sure it's just my allergies being extra evil- but frig, my stomach is going to explode if I have to take any more pain killers.. they don't even get rid of the headache, just make it tolerable. @#%#@%@#%@

I hear you La! I had one for the last 5 days and it finally went away today! Last week was the same. After all my surgery is done I'm headed back to the neuro to get back on topomax because this bites.

If you think yours are allergies are you taking any allergy meds? I know my doc said you need to take them every day and that they take a bit of time to work so if you are not, maybe try that for some relief?

Hugs, I know your pain!

La....I don't mean to be the harbinger of doom, but you might want to consider going to the doctor. I had really bad headaches for weeks on end and thought it was either allergies or my cycle. Turns out, it was high blood pressure. As soon as my doctor got me on meds, my headaches went away. Better safe than sorry!

Been there, done that, La.....more often than I would like to remember!! I get horrible migraines that do the same thing to me. but I have found that a sudafed taken with the pain meds seem to work better than just the pain meds themselves. Give it a try. I hope your feelilng better quickly girl!

Write down everytime you take pain medications and take it to your doctor, just so the doctor can get an idea of how often they are bad enough you have to treat them. Also, my doctor warned me against taking too much Advil/pain relievers. I tend to get bounce-back headaches if I rely on Advil -- once the advil wears off, the headache is back and worse than before. I bought some roll-on peppermint oil (aromatherapy for headaches) at Bath and Body last week and so far it has worked if I can roll it on my temples as soon as I feel a headache coming on. Also, ask about headache preventative medications. I was on several different medications and seem to have found the right combination now.

I'm glad you're going to the doctor. Any pain that bad and for that long needs to be dealt with.

I have severe headaches because of allergies. If I take my Allegra D every morning, and my Allegra without the D every night, I'm ok. If I miss my morning one, my chest starts to rattle and I get severed headaches, so I never miss it!!

Yep that's what I was going to say. They sound like rebound headaches to me. My mom used to get them. Turns out your body can sort of get addicted to over the counter meds like Motrin, etc. and it can cause more headaches. Even though you're taking the recommended amount per day, you're not supposed to take them more than 3 days in a row, or something like that!

I hope it's something simple they can fix!!!

I've been having the same problem ... I halfway wonder if it is how I am sleeping, the position, etc or maybe my life is just stressful and icky? who knows. But yeah those painkillers can do a number on your stomache for sure!

I'm not sure if it's the rebound thing- I mean maybe at this point lol.. but I resisted taking the pain meds for like 4 days before I caved. I do get migranes but these seem like a step below, cause I can still function etc. I dunno.. I do need to stop taking the meds either way, cause they're going to ruin my insides.

If you are running, that could cause your headaches too. But definitely get them checked out!!!

I had the same issue as you when I was 16. It lasted an entire year (not kidding!!). I hated it, and the doctors were less than helpful. One day I woke up and the headache was gone, so I have NO idea what was up.

I feel for you though! Headaches SUCK!

I hope you get it figured out. It could be anything really...hormones, high blood pressure, dehydration if you are not drinking enough water, the way you are sleeping. I would for sure mention the headaches though because there are issues that have to be dealt with immediately when you get a really bad headache. The first thing I try when I start feeling a headache coming on is to drink a few large glasses of ice water. Sometimes it helps to keep the headache away but sometimes it doesnt. Then I also read somewhere that is you squeeze the skin in between your thumb and pointer finger it helps to relieve teh headaches. Be careful with tylenol and advil though too much of it can cause problems with your organs.
Oh I have tried the thing where you squeeze the skin between your thumb and pointer finger and it absolutely works!! One more thing I awnted to mention....I had a bad headache like two or three years ago and I couldnt figure it out and went to the dentist for a regular checkup and found out I had a cavity but I couldnt tell it was there because it somehow started between two teeth and you could not see it at all except for on the xay. The dentist said he could pull it because it was a wisdom tooth and it would not effect anything and once the tooth was pulled the headaches were gone. The dentist then told me that the headches were probably from the cavity. I cannot remember what he called it but basically he said you could have a problem in one place and it wouldnt really hurt that bad there but could cause pain in another place.

Yes, you have to watch how much and how long you take Motrin/NSAIDs. I was on them at a high dose for a long time and fried the lining of my stomach. I had to take a heart burn medication for a few weeks to repair it. And now I have to take the heart bun medication 30 minutes before taking anything NSAID. And my stomach still can HURT after taking it.

So I would see what other options you have for it especially since you say your stomach is going to explode. I felt that way. They thought it was my gall bladder it hurt so bad.

And hopefully it's something with an easy fix! I hate mystery pains.

Maybe it's all that nasty tofu you eat.

No seriously, what about sleep. Are you getting enough? My body gives me violent headaches when I don't get enough sleep.

Buy a new pillow. Seriously, I get killer headaches when my pillow starts going flat. I have to buy a new pillow every month or so, I use the extra firm.

Every time I get a new pillow, my headaches go away.

Sounds weird but it's true!
