Default meds question

ce's dr gave him a cough syrup with codeine.. he also prescribed ce ear drops for now (with a pending script for antibiotics if his ears are still bugging him on saturday) but the pharmacist was apparently paying more attention than his dr & ce can't use the ear drops- so his ears are still bugging him.. Anywaaaaaaayz.. can I give him ibuprophen still ? since he took the codeine stuff already? the pharmacy is closed now otherwise I'd call them.. thx peeps.

Does the bottle of cough syrup w/ codeine have a list of drugs in it? If so, as long as it doesn't have any of the same drugs as in the ibuprofen, you should be OK.

there's also a section of the insert missing from the pharmacy.. there's no drug interactions section and the precautions section just cuts off randomly.. verrrrry useful

just curious..why can't he use the drops?

You can give him motrin with codeine though.. Just no like aspirin or anything with an aspirin base with the motrin.

because he can't use sulfa meds -- and apparently the ear drops have some component or something? and there was a possibility of a reaction. I dunno it was weird. they're calling his dr in the am to see what he says so till then we're in limbo. thx girlies.. I'll give him the motrin-- fyi, the cough meds are doing nothing. he's hacking up a storm and can't stop. it's going to be another long night so much for them helping him get some sleep.

OH! We went through this with Aaron since he is allergic to sulfa meds. He was able to take those ear drops, because our pharmacist brought up that he "could" be allergic. The doc still okay'd it and he was fine. But just wait till ya hear from the doctor and see. Also we were able to mix the pain meds with that guaifenesin w/ codeine!
