Default Anyone ever used a photo/negative to digital website?

I was going to scan all my old pictures myself but was pretty daunted by the task. I saw on the digi-files a website that you can send up to 1000 photos and they will scan them THE SAME DAY for $49.99! It scans them at 300dpi into jpg format.

Has anyone every used one of these online services? This is sooooo enticing to me! Very much worth the $50 to have someone just zip all my pictures through and walla - they are now digital!

My pictures are fairly good quality as is - I don't have any super duper old ones that would need a lot of retouching. Any input??

I know a few have used them and liked the results. I think Col was one, maybe she'll pipe up!

The only part about it that makes me nervous, honestly, is that I'd have to mail my photos. I don't have many of the negatives so if they got lost, that's my children's lives in photos gone, kwim?

I've successfully sent out 2 boxes to Scan My Photos, and had fantastical results.

Everyone always says what Bree says, but you can add tracking and insurance to your package when you send it out, and SMP sends you an email with tracking when they send it back to you.

I have 2 more boxes to fill up actually, lol. Jordan's mom gave me a BOATLOAD of pictures to scan (I think he wants me to do something with some of them for the wedding - so not gonna happen, lol) so I did the buy 2 get 1 free dealio. Naturally, there weren't as many photos as I thought, so I'll be sending out another round of my mom's photos again. I got almost 1800 photos into the first box this goound, and that wasn't even trying hard, lol.

I big puffy ♥ scan my photos, and I really wish more people (especially digi scrappers) would take the plunge and do this!!
