Default Anyone tried Pepsi Natural?

Went to a new grocery today which led to a few new items in my cart. One of which was a 4 pack of Pepsi Natural in glass bottles. Just wondering if anyone has tried this and what your opinion was?

Now granted I didn't wait for it to get cold in the fridge but I would have had a regular Pepsi at the same temperature so I don't feel that it is a totally biased taste test. I guess you can see where I'm going here. I like the idea of natural ingredients (i.e. no high fructose corn syrup) and the first couple sips were ok (probably because I was eating a flavored pretzel with it -- also new purchase at new grocery). But then about three sips in, it just had this awful apple taste. Ok, the apple didn't necessarily taste bad it is just that I wouldn't take a regular Pepsi and mix in apple juice. The bottle says they use the apple extract for color. I would have to say that the color wasn't really spot on for Pepsi anyway so I wish they would have left it out.

Anyone else try this stuff? Have opinions?

We tried it in the plastic bottle and hated it. It tasted flat to me!! Of course it might have just been a bad bottle but it was enought to keep me from buying it again!!!

Oh, you're right. It fizzed up when I poured it into the glass but it did taste/feel flat when you drank it.

Here's the thing. They made Pepsi with sugar and no high fructose corn syrup in the 70's, right? So did they throw out that formula or can't they pull it out of the archives?

Our household would like to avoid HFCS and we have a member of our extended family who is actually allergic to corn and corn products. I couldn't even imagine how awful that would be since almost everything now has HFCS. Thank goodness for the growing organics market.

I guess I'll have to work on my letter to Pepsi. Still wondering if anyone was overwhelmed with the apple taste or if it was just me.

It has been a month now since I first tried it... but what I remember was that it was way too sweet and was flatter... not an issue for me, I love flat soda. I was so excited I was so excited to see it on the shelve, I'm not a fan of HFCS and the fake sugar stuff triggers my migraines.

I have not tried it but I remember back in the 90's they had something called Pepsi Clear or Clearly Pepsi...something like that. It was clear and tasted just like regular Pepsi. Then in the 80's they had Pepsi Free which I think was just free of caffine. I have not seen the Pepsi Natural but I might get a bottle to try it to see how it is.

It hasn't even been advertised here yet, so it'll probably be a couple more months before it makes it to the UK - may be it will never come if sales in the US don't go well? ....and its not sounding too popular with you guys so far.

I did a little research and I think Pepsi Natural is called Pepsi Raw in the UK. I also found that select cities got something called Pepsi Throwback which was the formula from the 70s. That is what I want!!! Now if I only knew someone in Chicago. Road trip. LOL.

They sell Pepsi Throwback here in the 20 oz. bottles. I hate it. It just tastes wierd. Now if they would just re-distribute Pepsi Lime...

Dublin Dr. Pepper (the original Dr. Pepper formula being sold around more and more places), Jones Soda, Snapple are all soft drinks that do not contain HFCS (Snapple just switched in Feb).

I have never tried it. But it doesn't sound like it's too good from what everyone is saying.

The problem with the Natural is they changed more than just swapping out the HFCS. They had to change up the flavorings too. I can't remember if it Coke or Pepsi who does kosher versions at certain times of the year, maybe both do. They just replace the HFCS with sugar & nothing else. I like that, but I don't like Natural

Thank you. I will try to keep my eyes open for the Kosher versions.
