Default what a sucky sucky day...and its only 8:00AM

I never even went to sleep last night. My daughter and I had a big argument. I have no idea why. She has been avoiding my calls. We got the late notice for our power bill yesterday that it was due to be turned off today. We already paid most of it though so I thought it was no big deal. We owed 8 dollars still. I called to make sure because I figured for such a small amount they would just roll it over to the next month but noooo the lady told me if we did not get the 8 dollars paid our power would be shut off tomorrow. And its only 8 AM how much worse could it possibly get?

(oh my husband is going down to pay the 8 dollars...I just cannot get over that the power company would turn off your power for a measly 8 dollars!!)

I'm sorry you had such a bad day so far! That stinks about the bill! I noticed my gas bill went up and when I looked I paid 82 not 92! Opps But luckily they rolled it over and charged me a late fee

my husband went in to pay the bill and handed the cashier 9 dollars and she looked at him weird and asked if that was his whole bill and he told her what the power company said and she told him that a woman had gotten a turn off notice for 14 dollars when her bill for the month was 714 and she had paid 700.

Last month, I hadn't noticed that my cable/internet bill had gone up and just sent the amount I pay every month. Then I came home one day and my digital cable was not working, called cable company. They shut it off for me not paying that amount it had increased, even though 2 weeks earlier when I noticed it was different, I called and no one said, hey, you gotta pay this now or we will shut your stuff off. But I think the worst was probably 8 years or so ago, I had moved into a new apartment that used a power company that I had with a previous apt. For some reason, they decided to send my first bill to that apt I had previously (like 2 years in the past). By the time the bill got to me, it was past due and I was out of town. So they shut off my power in July with me gone for a week. I get home on a Friday night with my like 9 year old sister to a steaming apartment with a fridge full of ruined food. I call the power company and they said the only way they would turn it back on after hours is the pay this huge fee, in cash. I had to pay them like $200 and then on Monday morning, they reimbursed the fee part which was fine, but I still had to buy all new groceries and insist that they send a letter to my new building managers that it was not my fault I was breaking the lease with no power. It can be insane what happens with bills.

what gets me is our neighbor was out of work and he did not pay his power bill for three months and they never once threatened to turn his off. He left owing hundreds of dollars. We have lived here 20 years and paid every month. It just makes no sense. And the best part about this power company? They are charging us a fee every month for a power plant that might or might not be built in like 2019!! I dont think it adds up to more then a couple dollars a month (not really sure on the amount) but still they have admitted it might not even be built yet they can assess a fee for it? They are being sued for that right now so they may end up having to refund that money. And they cant say we would run out on our bill since we never owe more then about 250 dollars because we have a 200 dollar deposit!! Oh yes and they are also now charging a fee every month for the 2004 hurricanes. They call it a recovery fee. Yep they charge a fee for just about everything. Funny because if you didnt have insurance for the damages in 2004 you were stuck paying the damages to your property but the power companies nope they just add an extra fee to every customers bill for their losses
