I'm thinking of getting a new digital camera and thought I'd ask what your favorite camera is?
I have a Sony Exelim, which has been great for the average point and shoot, everyday sort of stuff, but I really want to take better pics without getting in to anything TOO complicated. As a scrapbook mom, I still need to be able to take live action pics, and spur-of-the-moment pics, but need better options. The holidays are coming up and I know I'll end up with the usual Christmas morning shots that have crappy color cuz lighting isn't just right, so what do you all suggest? Perhaps a flash of some sort to go along with a new camera too?

i'm also in the market for a new P&S. the old one got really crappy after my 1.5yo DD played with it and changed the setting somehow. it's a sony T100. now i'm considering getting the sony TX7-- i read the reviews and it's supposed to be great for low-light conditions and takes HD videos! plus this model takes the cheaper SDHC cards.
I have a DSLR, but it's just too lumpy to lug around in my purse. |

hehe... my DH was in the dog house last week... long story that I won't go into... needless to say he got himself out Saturday when he came home with a Sony a230.
![]() Now I've been wanting to upgrade to a this type of camera and the NEX had them on clearance. I don't know whether it's a good one or not but I'm just learning and really didn't want to invest a ton of money right now anyways. Needless to say I'm happy ![]() I also have a Canon PowerShot SX100 IS which I love... ![]() it's several years old but I've babied it... so It's in real good condition. I love how easy it is to use... and all the features on it. It's not really slim but it easy fits in my purse or his pocket. I just wish we'd got a neck strap or something instead of the wrist strap... Last edited by my2monkeys; 09-20-2010 at 07:09 AM. |

I just got a Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS to replace the SD1200 IS that hubby lost in Barcelona a few months ago. Its a great little camera and I love that its so small and compact and will fit in my purse or pocket.
I also have a Canon Digital Rebel Xsi and I really do love that camera but its big and heavy and I tend to only pull it out now when we are on vacation or someplace that my little point-n-shoot wont cut the mustard. |

I have two that I LOVE.....
Here is my "big daddy" DSLR - Nikon D60. Pic is of a D90 which is just one step above what I got. I love this camera! ![]() And for a Point and Shoot that I always have with me is a Canon G11. I LOVE IT and use it the most. ![]() ![]() Here is a picture of the new model (G12). ![]() Have fun shopping for a camera! I tend to research these kinds of things to death. I have found a great website that has helped me when trying to make a decision though. They offer professional photographers and customer reviews. I love it. Here is the link..... Test Freaks |

I have a Nikon D40, and in my opinion, there's no comparison for DSLRs when it comes to taking photos of fasting-moving kiddos! I absolutely LOVE it!
I have a Nikon S210 point and shoot that isn't the greatest, so I just bought a Canon SD780IS for my "purse" camera. ![]() |

I love my Canon G10, even though it doesn't have a fancy zoom. The current G11 is supposed to have a better chip, but I'm in no mood to change models as they go.
Anyway, if you don't want to go complicated, I'd choose one of the Canon PowerShot less fancy models (I mean less fancy than the G series). A friend of mine has a 5-year old one PowerShot, and it's still really good by today's standards. It's up to you whether you want to go the hyperzoom way or prefer something lighter - depends on your preferences and needs. As you see, I'm a Canon girl, but I've seen magnificent photos with Nikon, Olympus, Sony, Panasonic, etc. The personal preference is mostly about what you're used to. I'd say that these days there's such a choice of good ones that whatever you choose, there's not much of a chance to go wrong.

I have a Cannon Rebel Xti DSLR, but I also have a little Olympus Stylus 1010 which is really small but still takes great pictures. I love my big camera, but have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the small one.

I have a Canon Powershot S5IS. I would like to get an SLR. Mine is pretty good but I am the only one in the house who can actually use it and get the photos to come out clearly. When someone else takes pictures they are blurry no matter how many times I tell them only push the button down halfway until you see the little box turn green. Oh and for some reason when I take pics outside the camera likes to focus on anything green. Like if I am trying to take a picture of birds or flowers or butterflies (I like nature photography) it is sometimes hard to get the camera to focus on something besides the grass or trees etc

What settings do you all use? I have trouble deciding which settings will give me a quality pic, but then not coming out blurry if a happen to move it a little. A find there isn't much room for wiggling if the camera is set at higher settings
Geeeeez.... that was bad English, huh? lol

But if there's a new one, the G11 might become cheaper. Even though, I still don't need it I guess.
