Default Photoshop Student Upgrade Question

I have 5 days left of the CS5 trial and I'm going to purchase it with DD's student card.

What is the process like for a student? Do I have to scan the ID first, send it and then download? Does it take long? If I'm using DD's school card, does the registration have to be in her name?

Thanks!

When I last bought it, I purchased through Academic Superstore because I wanted the discs. So glad I did because I've had my hard drive crash twice. Anyway, I scanned in my student ID, faxed it to them, waited a couple hours until they verified me, and then my order was completed.

If your hard drive crashes, you can still re-download though can't you?

I did the same as Julie but there was an extra step. Academic Superstore approved my eligibility BUT that does not mean Adobe will approve it. Once I received the discs I had to enter a purchase code (to Adobe) and submit my eligibility. When they approved it they emailed me the serial/license number. It took about a week for it to be approved. I bought the Student and Teacher Edition which is different than what college students are eligible for. The actual software is the same but the purchasing options are different.

Does it have to be a college or university student? DD is only in grade 3...but she could still "need" it, couldn't she?

I ordered online, too. I believe it was a school-based company (my school is in a network of over 100 across the US so we have an online bookstore just for all kinds of software and hardware), but it was similar to Academic Superstore.

We had two options on how to become verified for student status. One way was to send in a copy of our student ID via fax or email, which would take around a week for verification. The alternate way, which is the route I took, was to provide my name and social security number (it was a secure site, and they dump the record after receiving it; it's encrypted the entire way, and honestly, SSNs can be found online for most people anyway, so it's not as private as everyone makes it out to be). It took minutes, and I was verified- I think it only cost me an extra dollar to verify instantly rather than waiting for the whole process to go through.

Our option was to get discs, NOT to download (I would have gotten discs anyway; I don't want to just download it), and it took mine SO little time to arrive. I ordered overnight Friday night, and got them on Tuesday afternoon, even after selecting standard (cheap) shipping!

The store I went through allowed all K-12 students and college students to get it, as well as homeschooled students, provided they could show proof that they were eligible.

As for submitting the secondary thing to Adobe, I also had to log in and type in a code before getting the serial number, but it only took 5 minutes to get the serial number and I was set to go.

you dn't even have to fax the card anymore..you can upload an image now Then you have to verify to adobe and that took a day or two to go thru (again had to upload the school ID) It's a really easy process but I'd purchase now if you expire in 5 days.

I purchased recently through the Adobe website and just had to upload a copy of my child's report card. It took a couple of days to get verified and then I could DL the software. I've purchased through Adobe in the past and have been able to re-download as many times as I needed to.

The Student Teacher version is for teachers or students from 1st (maybe K) to 12th grade.

So even if you order the discs, you can still get a code to keep using CS5 after the trial?

Yup. I did this with my illustrator trial.

I don't know. I'm still on CS2 until I can switch to a Mac. Since I don't move up to the newest version each time, I'd imagine there is some limit to how long they'd let you redownload the program. ?? Like maybe only until they come out with a new version? I've had that situation with other programs I have.

Okay so I'm trying to order through Adobe and pay via PayPal but I keep getting this message:

An error occurred during processing. Please try again.

I don't understand why. I've gotten the confirmation email from PayPal saying that I've submitted my order, but I've heard nothing from Adobe.

p.s I wasn't given the option of uploading my student ID either.

you will when it's time to verify..when you get your discs in the mail there will be a card with a url to visit to verify.

I didn't order from Adobe..I used Academic Superstore so I don't really know their process. You might want to check paypal and see if they took the funds and the reference number if they did..and call Adobe if your $$ has been taken out.
