Default Help Please!

I can't get the hang of installing styles! I got them in the right place using the program data path. They show up under the drop down menu only when I'm using text though. I'm only able to use them on text, nothing else. They don't show when I highlight anything else. I used this tutorial-http://www.scrappersguide.com/forums...ead.php?t=5647 and was lost when I got to metadata files. What are they for? How do I make one? I even watched a video tutorial and it never mentioned the metadata file.

I'm no help...I just double click on the ASL file and it puts them where I want them!!!!! I then go and save all my styles every so often to the proper CS4 folder......don't know if that is the correct/wrong way but that's what I have always done.

I guess it would help to say I use PSE9 lol. I love the glitter style I have and have seen a bundle I'd like to get but if I can't use them anywhere but on text then it's kinda a waste of money. Gotta get this figured out

hmm... I'm confused why you can only use them on text... the installation path looks accurate to me so it should work on all your layers... hmm...

you don't need to create a metadata file if you don't want to, I found them difficult to create in PSE9 and I still have some that don't show up no matter how many times I've done it... you just won't have them all grouped together for the drop down menu, but your individual layer styles will still show up when you go to "show all"

also... make sure you do step #3... sometimes they don't show up unless you've rebuilt that file... personally I don't delete it but rename it in case something goes wrong while it's rebuilding... and then once I know it's ok, then I'll delete the old one. When you open up PSE9 after you've done that it will take awhile to rebuild it but they should be there once you've done that.

I think that was the problem. I did the third step and they showed up! *happy dance* Thanks for mentioning that. I got frustrated by step two and stopped reading. I assumed the third step was only gonna work is step two was done. Now I can go pick up that glitter/acrylic/plastic/glitter gel bundle I was eying.
