Default DIY help

So I've decided to try and dye some cheesecloth to use for a newborn photo session I have schedule for Saturday. I bought a package of cheesecloth and some kool-aid.
Here's my question.
I've looked around the net for help and I've gotten mixed ideas. Almost all of the sites say to soak the cloth for 15-30 min. in warm water before placing it in the kool-aid. And they pretty much all say to low boil water and add the kool-aid, then the cloth. Here's where it gets different. Some say to add vinegar before dying, when the cloth is "pre-bathing" and some say to add vinegar after dying and some don't say a thing about vinegar.
So I'm not sure what to do. Do I "pre-bath" the cloth? Do I add vinegar before, after or not at all? How long should I soak it in the dye?

I actually did one with food dye, not kool-aid so not sure exactly on that part, but I do know that next time I do one, I'll buy a bottle of dye, for a more vibrant color. I actually did 2 & soaked them for about 24 hours, as soon as I dumped them out, the dye was practically non-existant.

I also wanted to add that a few blogs have said to put plastic wrap over them and microwave them in a bowl for a few minutes after to help set the color too. And then rinse with cold water til the water runs clear and hang to dry.

well I know I have always used vinegar in dying easter eggs even when it is food coloring I used. So I would put the vinegar in with the kool-aid. I think using hot to boiling water would help it set in as well. But Ive never attempted to dye using kool-aid. I know Ive heard of it being dont though. I would leave it in as long as possible before taking it out and make sure you rinse really well cause you wouldnt want to transfer any dye to the baby!
