Question Anyone have a Color Laser printer?

My hubby got me an HP color laser printer for my bday on Saturday! I'm so sick of drying up ink in inkjets...so I'm trying this route now. It prints beautifully in color on just regular copy paper, but I'm thinking of hybrid projects where I need a heavy paper....does anyone know what paper is good for that? I don't think I can use the matte presentation that I have - I believe it is for inkjet only but I need to check.

woot! that is awesome to know Andrea! Thanks! I was hoping my paper wouldn't go to waste! Did you do anything to the color settings? I've only printed a kit preview on normal copy paper so far, but it seems a bit dark and over saturated to me... still gorgeous, but might could use some taming.

I never ever thought to fiddle with the colour settings I just accepted for the last 2 years that the colours were just darker on my laser Now you've suggested it I shall be fiddling

question for you girls...how long does the toner last for your laserjet printers? They've discontinued the ink for my printer and i'll have to purchase a new one this year and I'm debating on getting a laserjet if the toner lasts. I'm so sick of having to purchase ink frequently and buy new printers when they change formats!

Since mine is new I'm not sure...but it has the separate CMYK toner cartridges, so they could be changed one at a time when needed. I am certainly hoping they don't dry out or get clogged the way inkjet ones do. I'd be interested to see what Andrea says to the comparison of toner lasting vs ink cartridges...Andrea??

I'm seeing some people say they don't last long, but then these same people are using it for businesses and saying they printed 9000 pages in the first week...so I'm just trying to hope that its reasonable, lol

It will depend on what you are printing. I tend to create all my projects in photoshop them just reassemble the layers onto a new document the size of my printer paper an dprint it out so I am only ever printing out the shapes I need but occasionally I am lazy and I just print out full sheets of paper which of course uses more ink. I think over a year I buy 1 of each colour cartridge (I have 4 cartridges in mine) and probably an extra magenta - I make lots of pink cards Because my printer is out of it's warranty I switched to compatible ink cartridges for mine too which is cheaper and I searched around for the cheapest place which happened to be an office supplies company who tend to sell to businesses but they let me buy my ink from them and just pay cash. My cyan cartridge has been flashing and telling me that I only have 2 sheets left for at least a month now and I've still been printing so they do last a long time. I've not known them to dry/clog up and there has been times when I've not been able to afford a new cartridge so it's sat on my desk switched off for a month or 6 weeks and it's worked just fine when I've used it the next time

If mine broke tomorrow I would go straight out and buy another one as I've been so impressed with it

Thanks for posting this info ladies. I might have to think about getting a printer again. I just got so sick of my ink jet either drying out or clogging up I got rid of it. But it would be nice to be able to print at home again... and try some of these hybrid projects.
