Default Question for the Designers

This is sort of a spinoff from this thread about what gets us, the customer, to buy more: https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com...ad.php?t=55575

What really motivates you when you are creating a kit? Is it the theme or a color swatch? Are there some types of papers you prefer creating? Are there some elements that are more fun to create than others? Just curious!

I would say that some weeks I start with colors and others with themes, so either could be driving the kit. I like making highly themed kits like my Nerf kit from last week because I love having things to illustrate and a direction to go for unique elements. I would say any papers/elements that you don't see in every kit (i.e. striped papers and flower elements) are the most fun to make

For me it is usually the colors first. Not always, but most of the time, and lately with my awesome creative team, they have helped me so much with their input for my kits!! They have been my biggest help lately!!! Love my team!!

I'm a theme designer, so it's always the theme that drives the designing. However, I make enough general pieces that any kit could have the theme pieces removed and still be a nice kit.

I always start off with a general idea of a theme and then like La start doodling and brainstorming on what I want in the kit. I do those first and then create the papers, put them all togther and see what other elements I need to fill out the preview. I find the doodling part the most relaxing and fun (it's usually done on my bed, eating peanut M&M's and drinking icy cold iced coffee).

i start with the theme. i sometimes take a longer time to be inspired by a theme than creating the actual kit. love creating the themey elements i'd be lost without a theme hehe i said theme 5 times!

i always do the elements first, then alpha, then papers.
