Sports lens?

Anyone have a good recommendation for a good sports lens - Rory plays soccer and Camden plays baseball. I've looked at the Nikon 70-200 2.8 which was recommended to me, but it is $2000 and I'm just not sure I can justify that much money! I have a Nikon D7000, btw, and use my 35mm 2.0 lens and 50mm1.4 lens almost exclusively. I also have a Tamon 28-75 2.8, but it hasn't quite been cutting it for the soccer and baseball pics.

I have a Canon and use the 75-300 lens for all my boys' sports. It's not an expensive lens, but it gets the job done.

You need something with that zoom range for outdoor sports like that. The players are just too far away from you. You should get one that has image stabilization too, otherwise you'll fight with motion blur a lot from an unsteady hand.
