Default Tell me about your EHD

I just returned my EHD- it was a Seagate, not portable (my first mistake) 500gb. I use carbonite for backup, so I just need the EHD so I can scrap on the laptop (I usually use my desktop, but if I want to go in the living room while the fam is watching a movie). Also sometimes- around 2-3x/ month- I go either to a friend's house to digiscrap or to a mom's night out where everyone does their crafty thing, and I bring the laptop, and do my thang.

My big bad NON PORTABLE ehd that I just returned was a huge PITA because it was, well, huge, and it had to be plugged in, and it was not reliable- some of my files were not getting copied. Not cool.

I used to use my 30gb ipod, but have long since outgrown it, as my folder with my scrapping stuff and all my photos is over 60gb now.

Please give me the 411 on your ehd. What you use it for, what one you have, is it portable, do you like it? I have NO IDEA what one to get now.

I have a Western Digital My Book. It isn't classified as portable but it isn't huge and it is easy for me to move around although I don't take it out of the house. I've never had any problems with it- except for when I dropped it while it was running- that was bad hehe

I almost bought one of the Maxtor Minis back at Christmas. They've actually come down a lot in price so I'm thinking I'm glad I waited. But I have several full size Maxtor EHD and I've had good luck with them so I'd definitely recommend the brand.

Oh, THanks Lynette. That one looks perfect. The price is great too I think I'll check it out.

I have a western digital my book that isn't portable, and I haven't had any problems with it.

Jeff has a WD Mybook that is portable, and I've been messing around with it a bit, and it's awesome. Love it.

I have several Western Digital portable EHDs and really like them. This is the latest one I got:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012GQZZU

The only reason I have more than one is that I keep running out of space in the drives so I keep having to get bigger one But all of them still work fine.

I heard really good things about the brand Lynette was talking about, Maxtor... and of course I didn't listen and have one that I do not like at all. It's just a pita and the connections on it are always wonky, so if I bump it or the USB cable, it disconnects.

I've been thinking about getting a new one, because I want someplace to keep all my photos and I'm quickly outgrowing the HD on my laptop, not to mention slowing it down!

So far I've got NOTHING on my HD on my laptop. I'm considering keeping new CT stuff on there until I use it. Or keeping my photos on it. I haven't really worked it out.

I do know that within the next few months I really want to get another one in case this one dies anytime soon. A portable one would be nice. I have an Iomega 250gb. It's small enough, it's just annoying since it needs to be plugged into an outlet and I have to lug those extra cables and such. Maybe I'll get a portable one and a bigger non portable one.....decisions decisions.... LOL!

I have 2 Western Digital Passports. Haven't ever had a problem with either. I got mine from Costco and they came with little zippered cases. Because they draw power from my laptop I have to make sure my laptop can be plugged in. I love them.

I've had a WD passport for about 2 year now. It's permanently attached to my laptop. I store all my digi stuff and audiobooks on it. It also has a copy of all my photos on it. I'm going to need to replace it soon. The audiobooks are starting to take over.
