I just wanted to encourage anyone who might have a senior citizen in their life to consider creating a Summer Bucket of Fun list with them.
I was reading over your Summer Bucket Lists for your kids and was inspired to create one for my grandmother. I took over some copies of example lists for her to look for ideas and explained what we were doing. My grandmother is no longer able to live alone and needs assistance in most things so we do need to modify activities. For instance, my mom & I have planted a garden but I take photos to show her and we give her the update about how things are going every week. So we will have Plant A Garden or Eat Veggies From Our Garden on her list because it is "our" garden. We will also put See Fireworks. She said she doesn't feel like watching them from my car tonight and she would like to watch them on the local tv channel. We will still count it for her list. We will also have things like: Sleepover Party, Frozen movie night, make homemade ice cream, make homemade creamsicles, make s'mores, eat fresh picked berries, watch National Lampoon's Summer Vacation. We will probably have some car ride type activities too. I'm planning on making a mini album of Grandma's Summer Bucket of Fun at the end of the summer. Just wanted to share in case someone else might have someone in their life who would find this fun. It's not just for 9 year olds, it can be for 90 year olds, too. And if anyone has more summer fun ideas for a senior who is not very mobile please share. |

It's a great idea. My MIL has Alzheimers and really needs to be kept busy during the day. This would be great for her.
