Inked edges?
How do you do them?
I'm a digi-girl, I've never paper scrapped, so this hybrid stuff is all new to me. I love the inked look and I picked upsome distressing ink at a local craft store... so now what? LOL!

Jaclyn,
Whenever I put together my hybrid projects, I adhere the paper album to the chipboard and then I ink the edges. Basically, I take the ink pad and rub it along the edge of the chipboard. I like it a little messy, so I make sure that ink not only gets on the chipboard edge, but also on top of the paper layout as well. I just drag the ink pad along the edge and tilt it a little so that it gets on top and bottom. Susan

I like using the small cats-eye ink pads (made by ColorBox), and I hold the inkpad at a 45 degree angle and sorta smoosh it along the edges. They are pigment inks, so the pads are squishy, but they take longer to dry.
If you have dye inkpads, those ones it's better to hold at a 45 degree angle and drag along the edges. They will dry almost instantly. |

Well don't laugh at my funny samples, but here is an OLD OLD OLD article that I wrote for a paper scrapping site several years ago. It covers the basics of inking.
Scrappers Ink by Libby Weifenbach I prefer to either do a direct to paper approach for the edge (running the actual pad along the edge), or I've found that a cotton ball is my favorite applicator when I want a smudged look. The ink doesn't go on as heavy as with a sponge, so it's a nice ilght look and still blends easily. |
