Mother vent.

I love my mother...we get along great and all but sometimes...UGH!

It's amazing to me how her memory of our childhood is totally different than mine...I mean we had a good one and all, but she was the mother of 4 children and yes whether she believes it or not she was ALWAYS stressed out and spent A LOT of time fussing and having NO patience with us.

It drives me CRAZY when she calls and I'm in the middle of an "Avery Fit" and he's stressing me out that she wants to lecture me on "not getting stressed" he's just a child blah blah blah!!

I mean seriously..I don't have many memories of my mother when she wasn't stressed...and I don't blame her for that..she taught school full time and raised 4 children. But still..don't lecture me mom!

My mom is the same way and there were only 2 of us. My sister and I joke about it all the time that she's a completely different grandma than she was a mother.

I know how you feel. Exact same situation- 4 kids and a school teacher. I just have to remember that when I vent to my mom that her advice is coming as a grandmother, not as a mother.

Ugh. I totallly feel ya, girl!! My mom is the exact same way. Her memories of our childhood are very different from our memories!! Ours was good too, but it's funny that she doesn't remember any faults that she had, yet she doesn't fail to point them out in me when she sees them. I guess it's a mom thing.

OMG! My mom does that crap! I remember very clearly how stressed she was with my sister and I a lot of times, which I agree is fine... but she ticks me off when she gets mad for even raising an eyebrow to my kids. UGH!

LOL, my sisters and I always make fun of mom and the things she'd do to us as kids (again, good childhood...but she doesn't remember a lot of these things) and she laughs at how random and dumb alot of them were, but they made sense at the time, I guess.

I'm sure when we're all grandma's, we'll do the same things to our kids.

My mom is the same way --- until she has the kids and they are getting on HER nerves! LOL

Yup, ditto.

My mom has completely surprised me with the kind of grandma she has become to my sister's stepson-to-be. When they go to the grocery store together, he gets one of those big mylar balloons if he wants one. They make cookies together on a regular basis. They go to the zoo regularly as long as there's nice weather and ride the train 2 or 3x.

These are things my mom never did with my sister or me. She was too busy working FT and taking care of the house FT and keeping the four of us organized and at the right place at the right time.

Seeing her do it with Logan makes me miss the memories I will never have of her.

And Jeff wonders why I want to be a SAHM...

I do understand. Not on the same points, but my mother and I remember my childhood differently too! She and I are also very close but sometimes I wonder which one of us remembers it clearly...or if both of us have changed it in our memories

Gee, does that ever sound familiar. My mother had the memories of my childhood all WRONG too. Her ideas of raising children bordered on abuse. Her belief was that if a child is throwing a temper tantrum to throw a small glass of cold water in their face. Suppose to stop them dead in their tracks. The thing is, I believe that I was stupid enough to repeat that senario (sp) to somebody else. I sure hope they didn't follow it.

my mom was not fun! i have no memories of her really playing with me past 4 or 5. she went through some crazy crap and luckily she knows it...otherwise i'd have to strangle her. lol gl with your mama. they can be so DAMNED crazy!
