Default Need a fabulous recipe...

for buttercream frosting. So there is this company here that makes these cupcakes. We love their frosting, not the cupcake as much. I can't find a recipe that is as good as theirs. I want to make cupcakes for my babe's 1st birthday and want to pipe the frosting on top to replicate theirs. So please, I've searched and searched. Help me with a great recipe for frosting. Thanks

This is my favorite recipe...

Buttercream Icing
5 T. water
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
1 t. vanilla
1/4 t. butter flavor
1/2 t. almond flavor
1/2 t. salt
1 lb. confectioners' sugar (sifted if lumpy)

Combine all ingredients and beat on medium speed until well blended, about 10 minutes. Blend several minutes on low speed.

Chocolate: add desired amount of unsweetened cocoa powder to finished buttercream icing. May need to add water.

There are about 4 of us experimenting and we've looked everywhere and tried many. So about the flavoring (butter and almond), is it extract or like Wilton flavoring. And it's liquid right?

This is by far my fave buttercream out there.

oh I used butter flavored crisco I think instead of margerine

Ingredients
8 cups powdered sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup shortening
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon almond extract
Directions
1Beat powdered sugar, butter and shortening on low speed until blended. On medium speed, beat in the milk and vanilla until mixture is smooth.
2You can add small amounts of milk if it is too thick until you get your desired consistency. It takes literally just drops to change the consistency.

Yes, the almond is an extract and the butter is a flavoring. YUM.
