Default How often do you go see movies?

we never go. i think the last time we went to one was when DH was stationed in Germany. i don't even remember what the movie was. so its been a few years. anyway, i want to see err i mean i want to take the kids to see that How to Train your Dragon. it looks so cute and the kids love seeing all the displays up at WalMart. i bought Aidan an outfit yesterday, lol. but its SO pricey to go to the theater. the one here is $8 for adults, $6.75 for kids and the matinee is $7. i thought matinee's were cheaper than that? it would still be around $30 for me to take the kids and that doesn't include the popcorn and drink. am i the only one who cringes at the prices of tickets?

DH takes one or both of our older kids to a movie about every other month. I take them maybe three or four times a year.

Tickets for How To Train Your Dragon (maybe b/c it was 3D??) were $13 for me and $10 ea for the kids. I about croaked!

We only do the drive-in in the summer. It's $6 bucks for anyone over the age of 12 and it's always a double feature. So the 7 of us (who and I kidding most of my kids are asleep before the first movie ends ) can see 2 movies for $12 dollars!!!! Also wanted to add that they do have a snack bar but we always always bring our own snacks and drinks!!!!

Wish our 3D Movies were those kind of prices - in the main cinemas here they're $17 to $20. I've joined a cinema club and also watch out for local independant cinema specials and can get to see a movie for $5 each if we get to the right sessions or $10 for 3D. Weekly special movie at the "big" cinema is $9 and you get one free after you've been to 10. If we get our tickets for $5 Ill buy popcorn in! Otherwise byo snacks for us too!

We still go about once a month (more if we can get em for $5 a ticket!

Nope. We have 2 big screen tv's and 2 surround sound systems in the house, so it's practically a movie theater at home. Plus, I can wear my pj's and lay out on the couch and eat whatever I want. Sometimes I miss going to the movies, but not often. We rarely have time to go anyway and then by the time we do have time the movie we (well, usually hte movie *I*) wanted to see is out of theaters.

I'm waiting for New Moon to hit the movie channels so I can watch it, lol. I bought Twilight but Jordan doesn't like spending $25 on a Bluay I'll probably only watch once.

The movie theater in this podunk town I live in doesn't even have surround sound, so I prefer to get PPV on my Dish! LOL

We go when there is a good kids film that the girls want to see. We go as a family & make a date of it.

As far as Andy & I going for a date - it's rare. Like REALLY RARE. We'd rather spend our time talking and enjoying a quiet moment in a book store, over coffee or a drink than in a movie theater.

The last movie we saw as a Family was - How to Train Your Dragon. We LOVED LOVED it.
The last movie Andy & I saw was Werewolf or Wolfman on Valentine's Day this year. We splurged and saw it on the Ultra screen. It was enjoyable.

we get all are movies for free since josh manages a blockbuster, so we figure its an okay treat to go.

maybe only 3 or 4 times a year. My dh might go with my boys to movies that I don't care to see though...so he probably goes more often than I do.

We go on special occasions, ie bdays or our anniversary. That's our date night, so we look forward to it. It is expensive, but it's not all the time. Before kids we went ALL the time, like every weekend, I cringe at the money we threw away.

We did go see How to train your dragon and we really liked it. They had it in 3D and that was really fun to see. Our matinees are only $5 though and then you have to pay for the 3D glasses.

I cringe at ticket prices, and almost always let a movie hit redbox before I watch it.

There are some exceptions- I think I go to Fork and Screen (the expensive meal-in-theatre option) 1-2 times per year, and a Regular movie 1-2 times per year, but usually I only pay when I go to Fork and Screen (my parents pay for all of us to go to regular movies with them).

Not very often, I went in Nov with my brother to see the new Saw film that was out, then in Dec to see The Chipmunks, and I've not been since.

I wanted to go and see How To Train Your Dragon last weekend, but when I went to book the tickets online it was £34 for me and the 2 boys. Then they always want popcorn and some pop, which is another £10.

The next time I go will probably be when Eclipse is released.

Before kids...all the time...after kids...never

Seriously...in the past year I think we've been 2 times - on my birthday and for our anniversary.

I've stopped buying popcorn and drinks at the cinema. When I take the kids they get a bottle of soda and maybe some sweeties from the grocery store to take with them, it's like 1/3 of the price. They don't mind that at all, as long as they get some fizzy drink

I have to wear earplugs to go to the movie theater. They are seriously too freakin' loud.

We rarely go these days...mostly just for the kids.

I might go once a year. I'm just not much of a movie person and never have been. Last year I saw New Moon and I will see Eclipse this year. My husband usually takes my 3 year old, but probably only 4 times in his life. I would like to take Elliot to see How to Train your Dragon.

We don't go very often. It costs too much and the kids find a barrel of popcorn and a vat of soda (the smallest sizes available) part of the eexperience so I get non stop whining if I bring refreshments with me. We can't eat that much popcorn and I won't let them drink that much soda so it's a waste of another $15 buying it on top of the $30-38 it cost in tickets.

The last movie we saw was Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. We may go see How to Train Your Dragon this weekend but it's still up for debate

We use to never go back in the states. Now that we are over here we go almost every other week. The movies come out here a week after they do in the states. Tickets are 4$ for adults and our kids are free. We can get nachos, popcorn, candy, coke, and tickets for less than 20$ for all four of us. I love it! I will miss it when we leave!

ETA, oh and its fairly easy to find a babysitter with the parents here that are unaccompanied and miss their kids. They love to watch ours for a couple hours while we go out
