Default Some belated self-praise

So, a while ago I was looking for some designer-level PS tutorials for a non-scrapbooking project. In the end it was done in CorelDraw (with the help of the ever-so-wonderful Zora aka DeepGirl, for I'm a lamer in CD... but this way I learned something new at least).

About the project: There's a traditional (traditional in the sense of that it's the 667th this year) funfair in Luxembourg each September going by the name of Schueberfouer. It's *the* event of the year, and people come here from other countries to see it. I have to admit we didn't have this kind of huge fun fairs in Slovakia, and I love this one to pieces.

So, when I saw the city of Luxembourg had a contest for this year's Schueberfouer poster, I simply had to enter. I didn't win, but all posters were exposed in the foyer Grand Theatre of Luxembourg for one week. And that counts as well, doesn't it?

Here be pic spam. Already one month old, but I had no time to post it at that time.

The poster (in case of interest here's the link to a bigger version where you can actually see the details of the photos):

Yours truly posing with the poster:

The exhibition (there were approx. 100 participants):

End of self-praise! :-)

Thanks! I was soooo scared when I went to that exhibition, because I didn't know what my competition was. I'm by all means an amateur, so I had a big chance of embarrassing myself. I was so pleased to find out that I had nothing to be ashamed of. A really rewarding feeling.

That is so cool! Never mind that you didn't win; you entered and were displayed!

Thanks to you all. I really felt no sadness over not having won - I kind of never expected it, although I *did* hope, otherwise there would be no point in entering. :-)

Anyways, it was a great experience. I tried something new (never did a poster before), I learned something (something about CorelDraw), and I managed to do a "real" project on time and hey, I had a display! And when I came to claim back my poster, the guy in the city "Office for festivals and fairs" told me that he liked my project, and that felt great. :-)

Oh, yes. But I'll never forget that function in CD that I learned to use this way. :-)
