upper lip (and such :/)
tell me your advice! i don't know if its me just getting older or if i have some sorta weird hormonal imbalance.. but i'm just putting it out there to ask what the best thing to remove unwanted facial hair. yes gross. i'd rather ask you guys than anyone else though. lol ![]() I have fairly sensitive/acne prone skin and this development isn't helping matters at all ![]() |

Oh yeah, just wax it yourself. Go to a beauty supply store and pick up some honey wax and muslin strips and stash it under the sink. If you exfoliate a little right after you wax you won't get any of those annoying whiteheads or anything.

I have extremely sensitive skin, but I have a fuzzy lip and eyebrows that tend to want to look more like Bert from Sesame Street than anything else. I have my lip and eyebrows waxed about every 6 weeks. I'm always a little red afterwards, but only once has it really gotten irritated and caused a real problem. And I've been doing it since my early 20's.

I should add that I did wax once myself right before christmas and it was HORRID! I ended up with little red marks and scabs.... You can ask my sister :/ So I think maybe I should go to a place that knows what they are doing.. every 6 weeks wouldn't be so bad I suppose?

It's gonna hurt, especially the lip, but no too badly. The eyebrows don't phase me at all, doesn't hardly hurt, but the lip NEVER doesn't hurt. But it's one of those OUCH! DAMN! things and then it's over.

well... I've been blessed with my grandma's genes... and then have PCOS that adds to a lot of unwanted hair... I just trim with a scissors every few days... and then pluck my chin/neck (TMI, I know...)
Apparently the removal that my mom swears by (better off hair removal) is no longer made...

I have PCOS and am super hairy... I just shave my upper lip every time I shower lol and use the nose trimmers every Sunday before church...
the last time I went somewhere to get my brows waxed she made me cry because she was so disturbed by all the facial hair that she "HAD" to wax it and did it for free because she apparently thought I was a freak... and made me promise to book more time and for more than a brow wax next time... oye... makes me tear up every time I think of it... and that was like 5+ years ago. |

I use a razor on my upper lip, and I go and get my eyebrows waxed (when I remember).

I bleach my stash as there are only a couple hairs that are dark.
I pluck chin hairs and use a scissor on the lighter ones. I'm interest in the facial trimmer. What is that? |

hurts more than waxing IMO..had an Indian friend do my eyebrows once wowsers..I much prefer having them waxed. I had laser hair removal years ago so my brows and bikini line are the only thing I have to usually worry about.
I'd look into sugaring over waxing if it's really sensitive to your skin to wax

Thankfully my hair is pretty light, so I haven't ever considering waxing...and that's good because I'm a wuss. LOL. And after watching Glozell's Nads experiment on Youtube, I'd be afraid to give it a whirl!

I use facial Nair on my upper lip, and like Rebecca I have to stalk my chin with tweezers for unwanted dark hairs. I think I am going to look into waxing, because I have had enough of the facial hair issues.
ETA: Thank you to everyone posting in this thread, I feel like much less of a freak now. |

Laser hair removal!! You can't do it on your eyebrows, but if the hair is dark, it would be perfect for upper lip. It's a little expensive, but it's permanent!
I've had the area under my chin done for strays and I've had my underarms done so I never have to shave there anymore. |

I sooooooo want to laser my chin area, but it's so dang expensive and I heard a couple people say it's not 100% permanent. Is that true? How long ago did you have yours done?

The hair on my lip is very light in color, but it messes with my makeup. It gives it a darker hue where the hair is, so I just get rid of it.
Heather, that was so horrible of her to act that way. Meanie head. Grrr. |

I have my eyebrows threaded and I definitely prefer it over waxing (and it's only $7.50 for each session). I actually find it less painful than waxing and it seems to last longer for me. I've never had my upper lip done, but I've seen others do it. I'm with Dawn though, the ultimate solution is laser!

I don't think thats tacky!
I am constantly asking for our anniversary or my birthday if we could have like a housecleaner just come in once for a deep cleaning and my husband always says stuff like thats not romantic or thats not a good birthday present. why not?! i would LOVE it! LOL |

Mine wasn't. Then again, maybe I didn't go long enough. I spent over $500 going though. However it did help my upper lip as now when I bleach, it actually works. I pluck and shave my chin though. I'm so glad to hear others shave as well!

I have had my eyebrows threaded and initially thought I liked it better than waxing but I've decided that I dont. I'd rather just do the waxing and have everything ripped off in one step rather than have prolonged torture.
I also shave my upper lip and then pluck any really thick, dark hairs. I do get ingrown hairs from it and it causes pimples but ive done it for so long now that I cant stop or I will look like a man with a nasty stashe. |

I have PCOS and dark hair so I'm super hairy. I pluck or wax the side burns, upper lip, and eyebrows every 2-3 weeks and just pluck the chin hairs. It costs me $15 twice a month for the waxing but its well worth it to me to get a profesional to do it because its done well and I feel better about myself with it done. I'd love to have laser but its nowhere in our budget.

Totally recommend getting a professional to do it who you feel you can trust and confide in. I used to get my eyebrows threaded by someone who was amazing but then she moved away and I went to another and it was pure torture so now I stick to waxing. Won't even attempt trying it on my own though.

First thank you for posting this thread because I too, thought I was a freak or half man for having facial hair. I am hairy and it does not help that my hair is jet black. I did get laser hair removal all over my face back in 2006 or so. It did minimize the hair and lasted for awhile but now I have hair again, all over. I do my own eyebrows, pluck and trim. I pluck a lot of areas on my face but wish I did not have to. Its like a daily thing. I think laser hair removal might work better on light hairs, I do not know. I think the hair is a lot thinner and less noticeable than before I got the laser but I would love to get it done again. Maybe for Christmas!

Kristin, there is a lady that comes in from Cranny that does threading. I'll see if Marcie still has her info. She is awesome! I saw her a few times for my eyebrows, but she said my brows didn't grow quick enough to warrant her repeated visits. lol Marcie has waxed them a handful of times for me in the past two years, but I ain't that hairy, so I just have to pluck the strays as I see them. No 'stache that I have to worry about.
Or, if you want, I can get you Marcie's number, she has a waxing set up at home, she does hers & Audrey's on a regular basis (and did mine & Jenna's, as needed, before we moved. lol). Or her aunt, Louise, she has a full salon set up in her home. You could even ask Xann, she might be able to direct you to someone local. *side note for Terra* do you know anyone local-ish for hair, that you trust? Jenna needed a trim badly, and we went to that place in SuperStore in Clareview ... they butchered it. It is so uneven and jagged. Plus, I need a trim too. lol And if they do waxing, that would be good too, she is starting to get shaggy (yes, I let my 12 year old wax her brows, she is a hairy beast).

I've had professional waxing done, and honestly I wasn't that impressed, but maybe it was who I was going to. Oh and I've been told waxing/plucking makes the hair grow back faster, shaving doesn't. Sigh, being a woman is hard! |

I would LOVE to do a laser treatment some day. I wax mine myself. I get the tweezerless wax from Sally Hansen. It's super easy to use, no strips or anything, and it's pretty affordable.

I can't wax or my skin rips off. Its worse with professionals. The sally hansen stuff works ok on my brows but my stash hairs are not thick enough to catch. I generally bleach it but I will occasionally shave my stash if it looks funny with makeup.
I do have a brilliant tweezing tip. You know how every single blemish shows in your car mirror? Stick a pair of tweezers in the car and tweeze at red lights! |

i got myself an IPL machine (VISS) costs like $450. i do it myself at home every 2 weeks. but once i saw results (definitely less and finer hair) i got lazy hehe and just do it whenever i feel like it. i do it on my legs, pits, upper lip, arm. i tried the bikini are, too, but got lazy because it takes a really loooong time to work on coarse hair.
