I saw on TV that 1 in 5 marriages are by people that met online. So it got me to thinking, how did you meet your DH? Poll now included.

Andrew and I met in an MSN chat room on October 21, 2001. We met in person on November 29. I moved in right after Christmas and we married on his 32nd birthday, March 22, 2002.

I met DH on a friends website in October 04, we met in person on November 19th 2004, we got engaged on Jan 5th 05 and I found out I was pregnant on Valentines Day 2005, Dominic was born November 12th, we married on November 19th 2005!

My DH helped me move my belongings out of the house I shared with my then husband! LOL I always say "Jeremy helped me leave my exhusband". LOL He was a friend of a friend of my moms....mom called him and asked him to help me move. At the end of the day, my cousin and I were going out for dinner - told Jeremy I'd buy him dinner for helping me. He said he was going to a local night club that night and why dont we all go - the rest is history. We spent that night together, and the next 11 years.......

He was one of my customers at work... and a friends neighbor. He's 17 years older than me, but the mutual friend, kept encouraging him to take me out.

He asked me to lunch, I said no, I'd be the only supervisor left in the building at that time, & my boss called him back & said she'd stay a little longer & sent me to lunch. We've pretty much been together ever since. Except for a few nights when he was on long haul.

We just celebrated our 4th anniversary, will be together 5 years at the end of June.

I had been good friends with one of his cousins in college, and his sister was married to a guy I had grown up with (like I'd know him since I was 2). So, I guess if we hadn't met at church, we might have met in a few other ways. It was meant to be.

We met at a bar/club, close to where I lived. My roommate and I had gone to the bar a few times, but the night I met him, I was with 6 other married couples. I was so uncomfortable, being the only single girl. Glad he started talking to me. We went on our first date 3 days later. He picked me up 45 minutes late wearing sweat pants and a t-shirt. My roommates couldn't believe I went on a second date with him. So glad I did.

I met my husband online. Unfortunately, our marriage ended 19 days after it began. His issues-- he was abusive, and fantastic at hiding it.

Anyway, I digress, I didn't vote in the poll, and I don't want to skew results with our 19 day marriage, but thought it was worth mentioning.

Furthermore, our little... issue... is not enough to scare me away from online dating, and as soon as our divorce is final, I do plan on trying it again. Though, this time, I plan on being a lot safer and less stupid about things.

The first time I met him he was running around the oval in little football shorts and I signed up to be on my friends mixed touch rugby team on the spot.

The first time he met me was in my backyard at my senior year after-ball party. I marched right up to him and asked if he thought I was pretty. (I didn't get Belle of the Ball and was a little um, under the influence)

He didn't tell me about our first meeting until after we got serious. I think it's hilarious and could vaguely remember it after being told about it.

I think it's so cool there as so many of you found your soul mate online. Thank goodness for technology!

Hehe, you missed the option - I haven't yet met my husband. But that's nitpicking, because the topic of the challenge is clear enough, so that option would be kind of useless. :-))))

Still, the real option you missed is - I met him at work. That seems like a real choice for me and worked for a lot of people I know.

i kinda wanted to choose two options - met thru friends and met at a bar/club.

I met my husband for all of about 2 minutes when i ran into a friend at the shops. She worked with him and they were on their lunch break. I actually told my friend she should go out with him cos he was so cute! But they had a brother/sister relationship going on, and he had a girlfriend. I had a boyfriend, so i didnt really think twice about him after that.

A few months later, I was newly single, and out at a bar where i was supposed to be meeting my above mentioned friend. I couldnt find her, but i recognised him, and went over to ask him if he knew where my friend was. Turns out, he was newly single as well. We spent the rest of that night drinking and dancing and talking. My friend rang me the next day to ask if it was ok if she gave him my number. We went on our first date the next day and have been together ever since. That was almost 10 years ago, weve been married for almost 2 and have a 10mth old baby. xxx

DH was my sister's friend in jr high/high school (he's 2 yrs younger than me). Some of my friends and some of her friends all started hanging out together. At first he was just the funny guy in the group that made me laugh, and I was already dating one of his friends. We'll be married 10 yrs in Sept and dated almost 5 before that.

this is hubby and I too, lol... although, we're in a different building, still the same church. I've been there 20 years and Mark 10 years which is when we met.

We were introduced through a mutual friend when I was a Junior in HS and he was a Sophomore-we were really good friends for 6 months or so when I finally said-"Let's just try dating"...we did...and we dated through HS. We split up for about 7 years after I found out I was pregnant with Zachary-I had a crazy marriage and another beautiful son in that time as well. We found our way back to each other in 99-got married in 2001 and just celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary in April. I love him even more now than I did when we first met in 1989!

I met DH through mutual friends in 98...i wasn't quite 21 yet and we were hanging out at this bar (think Cheers) allll the time. We dated for about 4 months and then well, we were 21, and decided we wanted to sow our wild oats. We got back together in late 99 and have been together ever since.

We didn't meet in real until Sept 4... then two years later, we were married on Sept 4... this year it will be 6 years happily married.

met mine while we were both working for the same gas station. my station across town was getting some new gas pumps installed so we were put to work at some of the others around town. Chad was working one night with me and we had fun flirting. he kept flipping rubber bands at me when i wasn't looking then when i turned around he'd look elswhere. so funny. i ended up being the one to call him and ask him out. my friend (who was also my boss) got his phone number for me and watched my cash register for me while she directed me to sit back in the office and call him and ask him out, lol. he said yes of course. it was the bravest thing i ever did.

I'm not married, yet, but I met OH at a new years eve party 2000 going in to 2001, I wasn't even supposed to be there, just called in to say hello on my way to my Aunts house(3 doors from where the party was), met OH and stayed with him all night, and have been with him since, lol.

we worked at the same grocery store. I was just a lowly deli girl and he was a manager in training!!! First time I "saw" him he was reeming out the bakery boy Jesse and I told the girl I was working with...... "If I was Jesse I'd tell that bag boy to go fly"!!! I met my DH at work in 2001. We worked across the hall from eachother. I noticed him and knew who he was, but I was in a relationship at the time so I didn't think anything of it - I just thought he was a nice guy. After my relationship ended, I began to notice him more and thought he was really cute. One day our department ordered Ted Drew's (a frozen custard place in STL) and we needed a few more orders so I asked around. One of his friends told me to ask Nate if he wanted any, so I worked up the nerve to go talk to him. It was so cute because you could tell he was so nervous when I walked up to him. We exchanged a few emails and phone numbers and we went on our first date about a week later (august 2), got engaged in March 2003 and married that same year in October.

I met mine at school/church. I voted church because if it weren't for church I probably wouldn't have met him at school, but the only reason we were both there was because we were in school. We briefly met the first day (a Wednesday), at which point the friend I was with told me that I should marry him. We first actually talked and knew each other the next Monday, on Wednesday he asked me for directions and where he needed to go was just down the street from my work so he gave me a ride, that night he picked me up to play racquetball with some friends (I was already planning on going), he asked me to the movies on Friday (although I was his 2nd choice), and pretty much we spend every day together until we started officially dating a month later, and were engaged 5 months later and got married about 4 months later. We hadn't even known each other for a whole year, but we both pretty much knew we were going to get married after a couple weeks of dating. Now he's my best friend and we grow more in love each day. We've been married for almost 3 years and have a 9 month old baby boy.
