There, I said it. I know a gal who plasters FB with status updates about all these amazing achievements her kids have reached and then there are 3 dozen replies of, "Oh, you're kids are awesome!" "What a proud momma you must be!" Sometimes I want to reply, "Oh yeah? My kids have already done all of those. I just don't broadcast it to everyone."
Did I really wake up this crabby???? ![]() Mind you, proud kid posts don't bother me really, but this girl in particular does it all the freaking time and it bugs me. You know, because it's none of my business anyway. Oh good, Coffee's ready. |

I post Connors derp moments more than anything. I'm not sure what that says about me as a parent lol.
But yes. Overly Braggy people (be it about their perfect lives... Husbands .. Kids .. Selves lol) get annoying. I always remind myself that no ones lives are really as perfect as they portray on fb and all the bragging is compensating for something ![]()

Here's what I've determined about people who feel the need to overly brag about stuff on Facebook....their lives really kinda suck they just want people to think the opposite.

Anyone who posts incessantly about the same thing annoys me. My friends who are dog parents without children are the worst offenders, LOL. Daily photos of their dogs plus links to the cutest dog videos they've seen.

She takes pictures of their report cards and posts them and everything. For once I'd like to see her say, "Man, my kid really pissed me off today." LOL! I mean, it's gotta happen!
This is exactly why I hardly use FB anymore. I'm too judgmental and it makes me feel like a jerk. |

I totally agree! Have you been in any of the homeschool forums? People posting what they find funny - uhm... just because your kid can connect that the dude on the dollar bill was a president... is not cute... especially when you kid is 10.

It can get annoying when anyone does it about anything too much, but a lot of times those people are lonely or insecure and just need a little extra love. *shrugs* Not all the time of course but at least they are proud of their kids. It bugs me more when people complain all the time and do the whole woe is me routine all the time.

We have some friends who are like that on facebook and in person. Drives me crazy. One time after we left their house, my DD asked me why we don't brag about her and her brother! I said -- "because it isn't polite!" I mean being proud of your kids is great and you should tell your kids you are proud of them but you don't go on and on and on and on and on about it to other people.

I know a girl that posts all the time how much she loves her husband and how she would be nothing without him and how he's her everything...blah blah blah....I'm thinking "oh yeah? I didn't see you post anything about how you cheated on him....with his best friend!" Yeah....I had to unfriend her. I can't take crap like that.

OMGosh Carrie. No words for that.
My cousin posts every single thing all day long. She knows she's annoying about it but still does it. She has her feed put into a book every year and says that's why she's annoying. I don't follow her so I don't see everything, just some of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I can see how that would be annoying! I'd rather have that than the drama queen type! I HAD a few friends who 3 or 4 times a day had a dramatic outburst. Honestly I think the occasional vent is healthy, I know most say that stuff shouldn't go on facebook, but sometimes people just feel the need to be heard, so once in a while can be a good thing, but every damn day..... they weren't bad people but it was getting to be too much, so I had to unfriend to get back my 'happy facebook escape'.... I feel much better for it. Now, I'm sure people get sick of me always posting pics, but I like my pics and I like to share. LOL When it comes to posting about my kiddos....... mostly it's stories about how they've made me laugh, or funny things that they have said. Those are priceless, and I know they lift everyones day who reads them.

There is a fine line between being a proud parent and touting accomplishments .... and bragging ... I don't know what the line is. I rarely post status updates on FB, so I'm mostly responding to others. I find the dynamics on FB to be quite interesting. My biggest pet peeve is when I see passive aggressive behavior ... that is a major eye roll.

I post stuff about my kid too. But not in a braggy way! I mostly do updates like "Here we are on the school camping trip". I definitely would NOT put up a report card??? That's a bit over the top. I agree this poor person is likely unhappy inside.

I hear ya. Some people just have no filter or sense of appropriateness.
Speaking of... a quasi-friend of mine is driving me insane by posting all of her Timehop photos to FB. In addition to the 50+ photos she posts of her kid as he is now, she is posting Timehop photos from 1 year ago, 2 years ago, etc. *facepalm* I understand doing it every once in awhile, but multiple times every day?! The worst is when people describe bodily fluids in detail. I have no problem with parents being proud that their kid is pottytrained, but describing how many poops or pees they've had that day... GROSS. The same with people who describe how many times their kids have vomited from being sick... SUPERGROSS. Some things are just TMI. ![]() |

I mainly post when my kid says something funny. He's really funny and I like sharing my laughs. If it comes off as bragging that I have a funny kid, I guess so be it. I don't have a desire to tell them about the fact that he got in trouble at school yesterday and had to spend the whole evening cleaning as punishment. I like to keep it light and funny.

I probably fall into this category, though most of my "bragging" is me being excited for Marcus finally hitting milestones he should have hit awhile ago or when we finally get a break through in homeschooling or something. My kids ARE pretty freaking amazing in certain areas, but they are far enough behind in other areas that I know all kids are different.
My biggest pet peeve is vague booking... "I'm so over it! I will just hold my head up high and ignore it!" ok...

I have one FB 'friend' (a former colleague) who is forever bragging about all the overseas travel he does for work, how he's currently waiting in this business class lounge in this airport in this country, and all the frequent flyer points he's racking up. That's the only one that bugs me - he's just plain showing off. I put it down to small man syndrome.

The FB post i detest the most are the ones that should be private messages or texts in my opinion. Like:
"Thanks (name) for alway being there for me. You're such a good friend." I feel like if these posts were really to show a friend some appreciation, why post it for everyone to see? It seemt to me to just be a way to have people comment and say what a good friend YOU are. Fishing for compliments. Cant stand those! Also people saying good morning and good night to everyone, every.single.day.

Ugh. I know what you all mean.
Between full on facebook fights between divorced spouses to family members who do nothing but vaguebook to 40 year old friends who obviously want to be 20 by the selfies they post.... yeah. I don't post much at all these days. People take everything to be bragging or complaining or whatever. It is easier to keep my mouth shut. Now and then I will post about something big going on with one of my kids. I share because we have extended family members who love these updates and, that is what they are, updates. When my kid won the county spelling bee, I wasn't going to call every aunt, uncle and cousin but by posting on facebook they were able to get the update and send her a message of congrats without making a big deal of it. It seemed less braggy than calling to tell them in person when I'm sure they would have wanted to know, one way or another. On the other hand, I post just as often when my kids are being brats. I definitely can't stand when people try to make their lives seem so perfect. I'm so far from perfect that it isn't even funny. My kids aren't perfect and my husband isn't perfect. We all do stupid stuff and make mistakes. We're good people with interesting things to say though and we like to keep up with our friends so we continue to hang in there and use facebook.
