LOL seriously! What I can't believe is his wife has known since 2006. Does that mean it's been going on this whole time? I'm just glad he didn't win the Democratic nomination.

I think I am just to cynical. I'm never surprised by these things. Men in power have been sleeping around for thousands of years. I just assume they all are. I'm more surprised by fidelity.
![]() I feel bad for their wives, not just that they have been betrayed but that, odds are they knew before the media did and they came to terms with it, it is after all a private matter, and now the whole world knows and they have to deal with that. His poor wife is in for a hell of time now with people judging her for her choices. |

Correct me if I'm wrong.. but this happened years ago- thus the "the timing of the affair rules out the possibility that he could be the father of Hunter's 5-month-old child".. So if his wife has "known since 2006" -- he told her THEN, and they dealt with it privately. I don't think it's anyones (ours) business to know NOW that he had an affair. I don't give a diddly.
(her cancer diagnosis was in March of 2007 btw, after the affair happened, and undoubtedly after they had been working on rebuilding their marriage). I think it's LAME that he's being dragged through the mud for something that happened TWO years ago. People make mistakes, and this has nothing to do with politics. This is people digging where they don't belong. off my soap box now ![]()

I don't like him. Never have. BUT good for his wife. If she can forgive him and they can really work out the problems in their marriage, good for them. It's really easy to say that you would leave your spouse if they were cheating on you, but it's a completely different thing to actually do it. None of us knows the circumstances of their relationship at the time this happened. I am not saying that it excuses his behavior. It's reprehensible. But I don't think that anyone should judge HER for her decision. My heart goes out to her for now having to publicly deal with this embarassing situation. What an awful feeling to know that the entire world now knows her husband cheated on her. I think this Hunter lady needs to stop sleeping with married men. Men are stupid (except SirScrapALot) and we all know it. But no one ever gets mad at the wh*res who knowingly sleep with married men. Sorry for the vehement feelings on this one, but it just really pisses me off!
eta: I do think that we as an American people deserve to know the true character of the man who could potentially be our president one day. I wouldn't vote for him because of it.

My reasons for not voting for him are different and were solid before I even heard of this. I am living in the state that the pretty boy oozing southern charm is from. Seen his game, not fond of his positions on may things. I do agree that character plays a large role in how we vote, me at least. In my not so humble opinion it's not so much that somebody did something horrible like this, but it's more about how they handle it. Are they humble and admit they were wrong? Or do we have another lying (biting tongue not to insert more words) Clinton here? I don't know that this ever should have been outed. Imagine how embarressed his poor wife and family are. If he was the presidential nominee then yes, bring out all the dirty laundry and let's see how he handles it. But he is NOT up for election and this was years ago, so really I don't see that it even relates to current politics. 4 years from now...guess we'll see. Number 1 thing I look at is voting record. I could care less what comes out of their mouth. Number 2, character. More often than not, those two things will go hand in hand IMO. |

The thing is though.......... He doesn't need to admit it to the general public. He told his WIFE, the only person that really matters in this- and they dealt with it. That's what bugs me.......... If my husband cheated on me, would I then expect him to admit it to a national newspaper/television station/etc etc ?? no. That's my point in that-- take what you will when weighing how you feel about political candidates-- but I think he (and his family) were completely in their right to deny these allegations all this time. It's no ones buisness and I stand by that opinion. No politician is without sin, No politician is perfect- and if personal indiscretions are what sway your vote, that's fine, but they dont' sway mine (I wasn't an edwards supporter LOL and I don't know WHY this is bothering me so much

Look, there are plenty of things we can say about politians that have cheated on their spouses no matter what party.
I have worked in politics- specifically working on political campaigns- for years and there are good, honest politicians out there. You just don't hear about it because they aren't as interesting as the "bad" ones. If you are going to say that you hate politics then why do you care how politicians act? It is because of apathetic citizens that our political process is broken. Trust me, people think that I am crazy for working in politics, for supporting these people. Well, when candidates spend their day, all day, promoting themselves many of them gain a huge ego- I mean huge and that is what happened to Edwards. I'm not saying that Edwards was right, because he definitely wasn't, but he handled the issue in private with his wife and that is all that should matter to anyone. Honestly, no matter how much research you do on someone you can never be 100% sure their character is flawless and they won't succumb to such a situation so you can never know their "true" character. I'm done now ![]()

Yeah, I'm with a lot of people here - I didn't give a rat's - um, UKWIM about Clinton's affair. It didn't bother me and neither does Edwards'. It's their own private matter. But the problem is they keep getting caught!
![]() Why did Edwards have to meet in a public place? There are doormen and other staff watching him go in late at night and come out in the wee hours of the morning. There are journalist, reporters, etc watching your every move. Why not meet somewhere private? So yes, they are people and they make mistakes, but there is so much at stake when you're in the public eye. And with the affair, there's ALWAYS 2 parties involved. You never know how the other person really feels about it, esp getting involved with a someone with power (are they starstruck?!). So you run the risk of something like this...lots of unwanted attention and negative publicity. And your humiliated wife has to stand by you on advice of your cabinet. Is it worth it? ![]() OK, that's enough from me. ![]()
