OMGosh! I hope you can recover them.
I got so paranoid of this happening, even with things being on DVD and my EHD, so I finally started uploading every layout I finish to Scrapping Simply, so they'll be there when I get ready to print. I haven't used them yet, but just read all the reviews from the gals here. I also have a paid Flickr account, and try to remember to back up all my photos there.
