Or else I'm missing something - I did watch the first 5 seasons pretty fast. But right now it's just a huge mess to me and I want to throw my hands up and quit watching.

But their lives in the ATL BEFORE the flight are all different as well...so the "reboot" affected things in all sorts of ways and Des being on the plane is just part of that...their lives are different..but better in the ATL. Sawyer's a cop...Jack has a son...Locke is paralyzed but seemingly happy anyway..Hurley is rich but without all the "curse of the numbers" thing...I don't know how it will all play out and what exactly happened with the bomb....but I don't think it's a "past life" kind of thing like some people have theorized...I think it all has to do with the space/time thing. Confusing...definitely...but what a story!
