Another thought is that he has been out of sorts because his teacher has been out the past few days also. You'd be surprised how this can throw a kid off.

This was my thought exactly. My son had a new child in his classroom today and he's been totally off. Takes them totally out of their routine and comfort zone.

I'd bet on the teacher too. My oldest's favorite teacher at daycare started an internship about a week ago and isn't there until the late evening shift now. She's been having a really hard time adjusting. Poor kiddos! Hope he's much better soon!

Has he had any new foods in the last few days? Could be a negative reaction to foods. Could be environmental - chemicals/pesticides/paint/whatever. My kids' behavior suffers greatly when they are exposed to foods and chemicals they're sensitive to.

My son's behavior changes like this when he gets anxious (he's a pretty high-anxiety kid). He also gets rashes from rubbing/scratching as a nervous habit. Often he can't even tell me the source of his anxiety, but we've been around the mountain enough now that I can recognize the signs. In our case, Jamin will also complain of stomach pains.
