Default strange things neighbors do...

OK, this is just weird. We had the same neighbors across the street until this past year. And I miss them very much. Over the year I started noticing that the new guy always honks his horn as he is driving away. Kind of annoying but I can live with that. But lately I've been noticing it more and more and it is people just randomly honking as they drive past. Noone is outside in their yard. I don't know the people so they can't be honking at our house.

So today my kids are playing outside. I had the windows open and was keeping an eye on them. And I hear a honk. I go to the window to make sure someone hadn't run out into the street and all my kids are in the back yard. Turns out they were having a party and as almost every car pulled up, they honked, would park, and get out of the car. I about lost my mind. Fortunately we weren't home when they all left. I would have gone nuts!

I'm sure there isn't much that I can do about it. "Tell your peeps to stop honking as they drive by or come over." Probably won't go over well. And I normally don't notice unless I'm outside. It's just odd.

Is this something that people do? Have your neighbors ever done this?

my sister used to do it til I told her to stop. now she only does it if she isnt planning on coming inside and doesnt feel like walking up to knock. like she wants to ask me a quick question or show me something. Other then that no I dont think any of our neighbors do that.

However we do have a HUGE problem with people walking/driving through our property and arguing when we say it is private property and they do not believe us.

Wow... that would drive me insane... but then my major pet peeve are people and the way they forget how to drive... you know, no blinker when turning, pulling out in front of me from what should be a stop sign and I have to slam on the breaks, those who don't know that merging on the highway - it's not all about them going 35 into 65 MPH traffic, in a turn lane trailing the car a head of them when the light is clearly red... and now I'll had honking at the wrong time to that list...

*Wheff* I've had that bottled up for a while... This is why my hubby drives most of the time... I have problems with stupid people and the cars they drive...

Ditto! That'd drive me nuts!!!! How strange that they all do it- it must be a family-thing.

My son's bedroom is right on the corner of our house- which is on a corner street. Really Sucks!!!! Especially when he has sleeping issues already- and the neighbors across the street are really loud. They use their automatic car starter at 4am (when they don't leave until 5am?!) and they have their radio on blaring! Idiots can't turn it off at night when they get out of the car, so it won't come on in the morning?! How freaking rude! I hate it!!! They wake him up every single morning and he refuses to go back to bed! Argh!!!

I am so lucky. I live at the very end of a very quiet street, in a very quiet town.

I would find the honking weird, and ultra annoying!

I know people who, if driving by a friends house, will honk to say "hi". Or if they don't want to come in honk to get the attention of the person in the house. Hmmmm ... Imight say something.

I think you could use the "kids sleeping" excuse to ask them very nicely if they wouldn't mind not honking so much.

That would drive me CRAZY!

The only weird thing my neighbors do is the one unfit guy is outside without a shirt on whenever he does yard work. Is chest is all hairy and he has some weird skin thing...it's totally gross.

I find horn honking rude unless you are using it to get the attention of someone about to hit you, like its intended.

My mom's neighbors do this. Everytime they leave, they honk the horn. Its weird.
