Like two weeks ago my husband and I were going over to see our daughter at her job. I had texted her to see if she was home and if she had any plans if she was home so we were not interrupting anything and she said she was actually at work but that it was really slow so we could come see her. That she would love it if we came to see her because she was really bored and the only one there. So I said ok and we headed over to see her. On the way there is this field full of wildflowers which blooms about this time of year and it is just GORGEOUS!! So I told my husband on the way home I wanted to stop to get pictures because the light would be alot better then. So he said ok and we went over to see our daughter.
Once work started picking up at her job we left and she sent some buffalo wings and a pizza with us for lunch/dinner. We stop and buy drinks and go to a park on the river to eat. After we get done eating we walk around and I take a few pictures. Then we see this beautiful swan so we call to it and surprisingly it swims over to us. Probably expecting some food although we had none. So it just sits there grooming itself. It was pretty tame so I think I should be able to get a little closer to get some pictures LOL. Well he was used to people I suppose but defenitely not THAT tame because he starts hissing at me (who knew swans hiss? LOL) and chased me down trying my bite my feet. He only chased me a few feet and stopped and went back to grooming so we were ready to leave at that point and we head for home. So now we are getting to the point where I just HAD to get the perfect photo of this field of wildflowers right? My husband pulls up to the driveway which is a locked gate. Nobody lives there though so I figured whoever owned it wouldnt mind me taking a few picture from outside the gate. So I snap a few photos there and then tell my husband I cannot really get a good picture from here and we drive down a little further and walk over to the fence but in between the fence and the road is a small ditch. It appeared to have only a few inches of water. Maybe not even that but it was pretty muddy. I was wearing flip flips so I slid a little and the flip flops got really muddy. I took a few more pictures from there but they just werent what I wanted so we drove a little further down to see if I could get a better angle. I figure I dont want to get the flip flops anymore muddy because they are kinda slippery in the mud and I did not want to actually fall down in the mud because I slipped in them so I slip them off and man am I ever glad. I surveyed the ditch where the water was and while it was a little wider then the other spot it didnt look any deeper. Little did I know the water in the ditch was not what I should have been worried about. Keep in mind this is lowlying land very close to the St. John's river on the east coast of Florida. So I have my camera around my neck and I go to take a step and I sink clear up to my knees in the mud almost falling backwards on to my rearend. So there is nothing to grab ahold of to pull myself up and I am sinking everytime I move and just getting muddier. LOL. So I take another step to try to get out and somehow manage to pull myself up and get one leg out of the mud while I am yelling for my husband who is standing there watching me busting his butt laughing so hard. He has to come give me a hand at this point...I totally should have pulled him in the mud for laughing at me but instead he helps me get the other leg unstuck. I am pretty glad I took my flip flops off because they would have disappeared in the mud I think. So picture me I am covered in mud well past my knees at this point probably up to my thighs so Im yelling at him to go get some water or something out of the car but we have no water. He finally finds an old towel which I use to wipe most of the mudd off. Enough I can get in the car and get home and get in the shower. Needless to say I never got my perfect shot that day but at least I got a funny story right? Im also sooo glad he had no camera to catch this on tape!! I would have never heard (or saw) the end of this one if he had a camera!! |

Oh no. Sounds like something right out of America's Funniest Home Videos. When you said It was Florida you started having me worried that you were going to meet up with some sort of wild animal! Whew! Too bad you didn't get your photo. The flowers sounded just lovely.

Oh I got some photos just not the one I wanted LOL. All the places I tried there was a tree there. I didn't mind trees but it was blocking a good part of the field. plus I couldnt get the flowers to show up as well as I wanted.
Just finished the layout with some of the photos I actually got. There just was no room for journalling LOL ![]() Last edited by jessica31876; 10-07-2010 at 08:51 PM. |
