Default The paradoxes of life

For some time now - maybe it's been a month already - I totally don't feel like scrapping... It started when I over-tired myself during my unpaid leave and it continues after I have come back to Luxembourg.

Strangely enough, despite the over-tiring bit I feel more happy these days than I did in a longest time (the break from daily routine has done some good I guess, as did the fact that I got up my lazy @ss and did something for Mum), but as a result I lost my "need" to scrap - I don't want to open Photoshop or do anything remotely creative.

Not even the totally great August portfolio (the best ever from my point of view, about 90% of the challenges speak to me) doesn't motivate me! What I do is reading and watching movies/TV shows on my laptop...

Now I'm wondering if I only need creative outlet when I'm stressed. I certainly don't want to get stressed in order to start scrapping again, on the other hand I hope to get back to scrapping one day. And maybe - hopefully - I'm just in a need of a serious creative break. :-)

Totally pointless, but I thought I'd share (it's still better than if I ranted, isn't it).

Oh, Adrianka... I totally understand how you feel. When I was with Kyle, I stopped scrapping for nearly 6 months! Now, I seem to have mojo on and off, but lately, I keep telling myself "Jenni, you MUST scrap!" but instead, I watch TV or read articles or... anything but scrapping!

I hope you get your creative juices back soon!

See, I'm not even telling myself to scrap. I'm very happy without scrapping right now. But it's a funny feeling. And I do very much hope it's not permanent (myself being happy can last, but the mojo is welcome to come back)!

Knowing myself, I will need some creative outlet sooner or later, but right now the need is totally gone. Feels VERY weird, because I've been having an intensely creative time for, like, three years in a row. Maybe that's why my mojo decided to go on vacation.

If at least I used my time for de-cluttering my place or something, but no! Reading, procrastinating and planning vacation is much more interesting. ;-)

Yes, I think it's this. I'm kind of enjoying it, too, I admit. :-) And since I decided to reead all Harry Potter books, it's not like I don't have not enough to read. :-)

If your interests are taking you someplace else right now, I say go with it. There are enough things in life we have to force ourselves to do; hobbies shouldn't fall into that category. There's a good chance you'll come back to it again when you're ready.

I've been digiscrapping for 7 years, but at one point I took 6 months entirely off and then only scrapped occasionally for the next 6 months. At the time I wasn't sure if I'd ever really love scrapping again, but that break was almost 5 years ago, and for the 4 years I've been back I've loved it more than the first time around.

I'd love to not feel the obsessive need to scrapbook! It sounds like you're in a good place right now, and I'm glad you're not feeling so stressed!

This is my view as well. That's why I'm not stressing or anything, I'm just surprised - for the past few years I had such a deep need for creative outlet that it bordered on obsession. And from one day to another, nada! Well, I'm certainly tired after those 3 months at home, and I guess what I need right now is to relax, in whatever way that suits me. Scrapping won't run away. :-)

Heh, I'm the kind of person who gets easily obsessed with her hobbies, so this is really unexpected. I was kind of thinking a break might do me good, but never expected it would happen so naturally.
