Default March 2020: Passport FAQ

If you have any questions regarding THIS month's Passport challenges, please post them here.

We have a wonderful team and community here at SSD....
so someone is sure to get back to you ASAP with answers to anything and everything related to our Passport Challenge System!

Here is a list of this month's challenge prompts for easy reference:

#1. One Little Word : Insight
You can use this word as/in your title work, within your journaling, or simply let it inspire the direction of your layout.

#2. Product : New Designers
Discover one of our new designers and scrap with something they’ve added to our store since joining our team in the past few months!

#3. Featured : Flergs + Blagovesta
Our featured designer articles have been expanded since we started our alphabet inspired series, and are showcased on the blog each time a new designer goes into the spotlight. Your challenge is to use any solo product from one of our featured designers this month PLUS discover something from either Megs or Blagovesta's interviews this month to use as inspiration for a layout, be sure to tell us what inspired you in your gallery comments!

The following are a few ideas on how you may glean inspiration from a FD interview... Using this interview with Meg [featured in December] ... You might be inspired by the red and white cookie jars in her kitchen to scrap a red & white layout. Maybe you'd like to include the quote she shared “The Best Thing About Memories Is Making Them” on your page, maybe you were inspired by the letter “G” to scrap your own OLW starting with the letter G... or perhaps you might simply want to lift one of the layouts created by the Babes to show off the FD freebie. It’s totally up to YOU to decide how you'd want to be loosely inspired by one of our FD blog posts.

#4. Inspired By : Watercolors
Scrap a page that reflects the dynamic flow and mixture of watercolors.

#5. List : 5 New Ideas
Include a list that highlights 5 new ideas that you want to try and introduce into your life/routine.

#6. Leaving Love :
Leave love on 15 layouts in the gallery and then post the link to each in your tracker thread.
Create your own place marker by using your favorite layout you've left love for during the month to "hold" that spot on your card ♥
Right click on a page in the gallery and save... follow by resizing this saved image to 97 X 97 before adding it to your Passport tracker image.

#7. Photography : Perspective
Shake things up and discover a new perspective with your photos. Try to think outside the box and capture your subject matter in an extraordinary way!

#8. Quote : Mistakes are the Portals of Discovery
You can creatively incorporate quotes into your page as titles, using journal cards or including the quote within your journaling.

#9. Seasonal : International Women's Day
Celebrate International Women's Day by scrapping about the important women in your life.

#10. Typography : Andrea Bilarosa Font
Download and use this font on one of your layouts this month.

#11. Wild Card : Scrap anything you'd like for this challenge ♥

#12. Composition : Four Quandrants
In the spirit of four leaf clovers, split your page into 4 quandrants, then rotate 30 degrees and scrap!

#13. Journal : Biggest breakthrough you or a loved one has made recently.

#14. Currently : Inventing...

#15. Color : Scrap with this month’s color swatch.
It should be obvious that the page you've created was inspired by the colors featured in the swatch image posted below.
** You don’t necessarily have to use all of the colors shown [use 2, or 3, or all 5] **

#16. Pop Culture : String Art
Everything old is new again! [Re]Discover the chic 70's hippie craft of String Art and then have some fun reinterpreting those ideas into a layout.

#17. Details : Building Around a Shape
Create a page where your design is built up around a shape.

#18. Scraplift : Hosted on the Blog
On the first Sunday of each month, Sugarbabe Kim E. will host an inspiring Scraplift Challenge on the SSD Blog.
You have the entire month to play along and complete your page.

To keep in mind while you're scrapping...
These prompts are written and created with fairly broad themes/concepts in mind and I think that personal interpretation is key. You can certainly approach a prompt literally, or I encourage you to think about it in a different way ... take a creative approach on ways to apply prompts so that they'll work for you and your family.

I love that you chose a lot of paper layouts to showcase here. Gorgeous inspiration.

#12 - are we rotating the whole page 30 degrees or each quadrant 30 degrees from the others?

We'll have to wait and see who Loni says qualifies as the new designers. If you go off of her "this year", it would be the top two. She'll have the final say. I'm just me, chatting along in the forums!

The beginning of that above says Flergs + Blogovesta. In the following sentences is says get inspiration from either Megs or Blagovesta's interviews this month. Silly question: Megs isn't Flergs, is she? We should use a solos product from Flergs or Blogovesta, right? Both of them have new interviews coming up this month?

Sorry if this is a dumb question and I realise I may be overthinking it but are the last two challenges (17 & 18) basically the same? Am I missing a significant difference between the two?

I kinda feel the same way. Maybe Loni or the Babes have a better explanation for the two.

I wondered about that, too. I figure 17 is scrapping around, amidst a shape but 18 is us actually making a shape out of embellishments.
Maybe.
Something like that.
Hmmm.

lol

They seem pretty similiar but I would say the blog challenge is to use washi tape (or other elements) and build an outline of a shape. I would say number 17 would be using a shape and filling it in with elements. Hope that makes sense.

For the people who have done the stringart already, how did you create the string? or was it pieces of string already included with the kits?

I used a string in the Affixed to the Board kit. Kept duplicating it and cutting off parts I didn't need after I put it where I wanted it.

Later thought it might have been easier to use the brush tool to stroke a line from one point to another (on it's own layer) then use a style on it or clip a fabric-y paper to it to make it look like string. Would have had to do that over and over (and over and over) lol for how many string pieces I had. So I don't know which method would have been easier.

I'm starting to think and plan on making this a papers layout, but I might need more than a month, procrastination and all, hehe. But I also think that the kits I have has strings, I just need to open each folder one by one, and then I thought about that procrastination thing-y?

You don't have to open them one by one!
Go to your big scrap folder and do a search in the search bar. Type in string. They should all pop up and you will be able to see their location.

Don't tell me that Loni, I didn't understand that way (blame I'm not english native LOL)

here's what you post : #12. Composition : Four Quandrants
In the spirit of four leaf clovers, split your page into 4 quandrants, then rotate 30 degrees and scrap!

So I literally divided mine in 4 parts (I even made my BG with 4 hearts like a clover LOL) and rotated 30 degrees and then scrapped, not that I scrapped and then rotated And I don't think my page is gonna look good if I rotate everything buuuu I might add both options wdyt?

I may have done mine a little bit according to my interpretation check here, https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com...owling&cat=500
I started with stringnots, then the shoelaces and then stitiching, I think it looks like the examples I've seen so far in the gallery, well at least hope so

Go to your big scrap folder and do a search in the search bar. Type in string. They should all pop up and you will be able to see their location.

Okay ladies, aside from the ones in the gallery, I also checked pinterest for some string art pages and I found some:

And I saw a page of Brook, she used stitchings but I think we can scraplift it and use strings!

I love those examples! Thanks for sharing
I have started working on a heart background. Although that rectangle layout seems to be the easiest to achieve.

I'm struggling finding string to use. I don't want to buy a whole kit for one element... am I overlooking any packs of JUST them?
