CS4 help
O.k., I just got CS4 (upgrade from CS3) and I am going crazy right now ... everytime I open a new item, the rest of what I had open disappears. For example, I have a new 12x12 blank page open. I then opened a set of wave templates and my new 12x12 page disappeared. I know it is there, I just can't figure out where ... HELPPPPPPP!!! I am so frusterated right now ...
Thank you in advance for your brilliant help.

The open files tile across the top...I bet you have them both open. It was confusing to me too. If you look at the top of your graphic I think you will see multiple files there...just click the one you want.

Things usually open in tabs... do you see the tabbed items in upper left? I hate this feature. Click on to open. You can also go up to the Arrange Documents icon and click on that, then select Float All in Windows. I wish I could figure a way to make that the way it opened automatically, but so far no luck.

I hate them and I am trying to get rid of them. Grrrrr, but thank you. That threw me at first too. I was telling my dh that CS4 was messed up till we figured it out.

Yeah, unfortunately. I haven't figured a way to make them open automatically like that. I know, it's a pain. Glad you got it figured out though.

O.k., are you having issues with the layers not "refreshing" on their own? I put a paper at the top of my layers, then tried to move it down and it will not show properly. On my layers it is at the bottom, but on my 12x12 picture layout, the paper is still on top ... I am so ready to go back to CS3. Grrrrrrrrrr ..... I have to move the actual lo to get it to change.

open documents as tabs enable floating document window docking The first gets rid of tabbed windows, the second keeps the floating documents from becoming tabbed there. I have to say though--I really like the tabbed windows. It took me a while to get used to it, but I prefer it now! Anyway, I hope that helps you out! |

Leila ... I ♥ you. But I am with Jenn, I still get the tabs too. :-( What is your secret to make them stay away ... did you threaten them? Bribe your computer with more space? What?!? I did have to reboot and my other issues when away. Serioulsy scrapping should not be this difficult.

I didn't do anything to it, just unchecked the boxes.

I thought the tabs were a pain at the beginning too...but I sorta like them now.....I would have never thought I would have said that when I upgraded a year ago!! LOL

I shoud be getting the kids ready for school but thought, I try this first. I am another one who loves the tabs - no files opening and creating chaos, they are all neat and tidy in tabs, LOVE it!
I unchecked the boxes and they stay that way, so not sure what is causing the problem. But I recommend to reinstall/repare CS4 for all and see if that helps. |

So how do you drag things from the tabs? My stuff isn't moving.

I just click and drag them down...then they are floating beside my layout...or in front.

FINALLY figured it out!! You gals rock! Thank you for all the help! I found out that some of my fonts were locking up CS4 so that was part of my issue as well. It was not a good day for scrapbooking yesterday!!
