Default Is this tacky..

So I haven't gotten my Christmas Cards done and I don't know if I will be.. is it tacky to do an online one? I was thinking of doing up a small slideshow or something of pictures from the past year and just giving family/friends a link to it.. tacky yay or nay... adding an anonymous poll :P

Kristin - I know of lots of folks who do end of year photo montages/videos for family & friends. So..a Christmas one might not be out of line.

I don't think it's tacky at all... many people are sending Christmas greetings online now... partly going green and saving green. I think that a montage would be so fun to receive.

If you are going to do a little slideshow, then it isn't tacky. People would probably enjoy it!

If you were going to just send an e-card... well... (heehee).

well I do not send cards at all. We see all our relatives and friends so often I dont really see why I need to. To me cards are for people you dont see often. I also think it depends on what you usually do. Like if you sent cards for the last ten years then suddenly decided not to people might be dissappointed in not getting the card. Reason why I say that is people seem to email everything anymore. It is so rare that you get a written letter or card except for birthdays or holidays KWIM? So I think cards are alot more special nowadays then they were 10 or 15 years ago. IDK though maybe it is jusst me who is kinda lame and gets excited when I get something in the mail that is not saying pay me LOL

I think it would be better than not getting a card.

I absolutely WUB you, KCB...but I say tacky. sorry!!

I'd rather not get a card than get an e-card. I just think they're so impersonal. They're ok for everyday sentiments and funny stuff, but I guess I'm a bit traditional when it comes to Christmas.

Of course, I still think that all wedding invitations should be hand-addressed...so maybe I'm too picky when it comes to this stuff

I'm old fashioned I like paper cards. I hang them up around the top of my kitchen year and my laptops a bit heavy to hang...

Oh, I'd rather have a late card than no card. One friend always sends his out in July!

Go for it! I gave up paper cards years ago. Better for the environment & cheaper & easier too. Having a slide show is a nice bonus

I have to be honest and say that any time I've been sent an ecard or the like for Christmas, I just delete it (for the most part). I do my cards, and sometimes they're late, but I REALLY love regular paper cards in the mail. It just says Christmas to me. I have a wooden box with a plush Santa on it that is for "Christmas mail" that I put my cards in. It's such a nice change from all the bills and junk mail, it's the only time of year I like going to get the mail LOL!

I guess it would depend what kind of people you are sending to! I know all of my family are pretty computer savvy, but they still like the paper cards, because they have pics of the kids on them.

We actually do both. I do online greeting for a lot of our friends and people I usually communicate with that way.
Then I print cards/letter for grand parents and more traditional folks. Makes everyone happy! :P

I don't think it's tacky and I'm sure people will enjoy watching a slide show of pics instead of just a regular card

I think it might be better in some ways than getting a card in the mail. Because everyone knows you just fill them out, they're generic, and batched. But, the slideshow would be very personal.
