Default Grey or Gray?

Alright ladies... here's my random -not so random QOTD b/c that's how my brain always works. It appears random but really there's some chain reaction that got me to this place but it takes so much effort to explain it that I usually just play the part of squirrel brain.

I was just tagging my newest kit purchase today (yay for new goodies!) with all the stuff I usually do-- kit name, designer, theme, and main colors, etc. This one is red and grey. Or is it gray? I grew up being told it was either or so I choose grey. It just looks better to me. It would appear, however, that my Mac thinks grey is incorrect. Gray is the only way the color tag comes up so I end up tagging both colors anyways.

So what say you? Do you say grey or gray?

Ohhhh well that explains it! At this point I'd rather claim to be Canadian than American. Besides, I grew up surrounded by flannel, maple syrup and a lot of "eh's" anyways. Lol...

This is such a great memory tool - thank you! I won't ever forget which is which again.

As for me, I use grey (despite the fact I'm American) but then, I also write theatre and consume massive quantities of Earl Grey tea.

I never know! Because I learned British English as a kid (I'm French) and now live in the US. So I just always ask my husband and we always have the same conversation.

Also how do you tag your kits??

I personally just tag my kit preview (right click, get info, and I add a tag from there). I tag mine with the name of the kit, the name of the designer, if it's a collab, if it has journal cards and/or alphas, it's theme and it's predominant colors.

I have a Mac so I can change the folder into an image of the kit preview too. I don't think PC's do that but I could be wrong. It's been a long time since I had one.

I believe gray is the American way and grey is the British way.

But I always, always, always spell it grey.

It makes me cringe to see gray.

Which is ridiculous. But I don't care.

I was born and raised in Canada so grey is what's natural to me - plus I have a BIL who's name is Gray, so that spelling makes me think of a person

I've always grown up with the understanding that 'Gray" was the name form, and "Grey" was the color form.... now I know it goes both ways, but I never really looked into it, and don't pay attention to what I use and when.

This is funny Roxana! I'm going to have to see what my hubs uses. I've never paid attention before!
