Rotating elements
Do you rotate/flip your elements around? How much do you worry about the little 'highlights' on some of them? There are some elements (like bling, some alphas, metal, plasticky type stuff) that have a 'highlight' on them to indicate that the light is bouncing off of them so they look reflective.
Do you worry that you're changing the light source when you rotate it? Here's an example: I rotated the letters in the word 'the' so the highlights are in a different place than the word 'of'. It seemed pretty minor, so I wasn't going to worry about it... Would you?

I rotate elements all the time. I've thought about the same thing as you, but then I just forget it and do it anyways. Chances are that nobody will even notice! Once they are printed & in your books, do you think your kids are going to look at them and be like "Hey Mom... the light is OBVIOUSLY coming from other directions - look how they are bouncing off these letters compared to the buttons!". Nope. So don't stress!
That's my philosophy anyways, lol!

I rotate and have the same philosophy as Jaedyn... since I scrap for myself and for my family I don't let it affect my pages and honestly, I'm the only one that notices.

I've thought about it, but then I've let it go. One of my mottos lately has been "don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good." If I get completely stressed out about the light sources on my page, I'm never going to finish.

Oh and just think maybe in a paper page your page is bubbled up there from something bulky behind and the light is falling differently on those alphas because of it. This is how I rationalize it!

I would have never noticed it either. I love Chelsey's quote--I would truly never finish if I got into too many details!

It depends on how noticable it is for me.

Depends how it looks. Most of the time I'll do it unless it really stands out. I wouldn't have noticed on yours, so I would have done just like you did.

For me, it all depends on how it looks. If it's really bothering me, then I'll change it. One trick that I use is to rotate and flip. It wouldn't work in the case of the alpha you used because the letters will end up backwards, but play along with me. After you rotate the element 90 degrees CCW, if you flip it vertically, that would correct the light source issue. But on your layout it's so minor that I really wouldn't even have noticed.

I do it because the casual observer will never notice. Even if I notice it, I don't necessarily think it significantly detracts from the page.
