Default Spin-Off: Drinks

I live in a very sheltered world. So tell me, what is your favorite drink when you go out? What about when you stay in and are entertaining or just feel like having a drink?

I almost always go for a peach bellini when we go out (I rarely order them though, but if I do order an "adult drink" I go for these)...if they don't have bellini's then I'll get a margarita - strawberry or raspberry usually.

The other night DH brought home coolers for me and he grabbed Vodka Mudshakes...OMG they were SO good!! Usually I go for rum and coke, but I will drink coolers - my newest faves are the Smirnoff Twisted ones - Strawberry & Acai is really good, so is Watermelon.

And, while I'm add it...I'm going to add shooters to my list - my favorite shooter is China White. Mmmmmm...

I usually order margaritas at restaurants. If I'm at a club (rarely) or in some other place of the sort, I'll get an amaretto sour (YUM!).

For entertaining, we usually do wine or margs.

I don't drink beer (blech) but I love Mike's Hard Lemonade (reg, cranberry, or lime) and Smirnoff Ices.

Amaretto sours are tasty but I can only have 1. Too sweet for me.

I'm a Captain Coke girl. I don't drink beer except for rare occasions. Occasionally I'll get a Stoli Ras and Sprite or another fruity drink. Red Robin makes a delicious drink called Sand in My Shorts. It's got orange and pineapple and who knows what else in it, lol. I also love a good Malibu Bay Breeze.

malibu & pineapple or smirnoff ice. I basically like anything w/ malibu and juice in it though.

Shots - Lemon Drop

I hardly drink when I go out. I usually just look at the specialty drink list. I like the fruity stuff. In the summer at home I like watermelon daquiris. It's watermelon, rum and simple syrup. Got hooked on those at Jamaica. I salt my rim though on mine. Or the jack daniels coolers are good blended with ice.

If I'm drinking to get tipsy...beer.
If I'm drinking to taste alcohol...margarita on the rocks.
If I'm drinking as a dessert after dinner...mudslide.
If it's around lunchtime...bloody mary.
Shots...Buttery Nipples...yummmmmm!

I don't drink most of the time as I can enjoy myself without it so I'm usually the DD. But if I don't have to worry about us getting home safely, those are my drinks of choice.

If I am drinking with supper at a restuarant, I love pina coladas or Mango or Peach Margaritas. Yummy. If I am drinking out at the bars, then a Screwdriver or Bud Light. If I am drinking at home, wine or wine coolers. I used to get Skyy Blues a lot, but I haven't had one in years. They are super sweet.

I don't really drink much these days, maybe the odd glass of wine, or Baileys on the rocks.

But back in the day my drink was an amaretto sour.

In all reality, I only occasionally have a small glass of red wine and nothing more. I used to drink mostly beer and Bloody Marys like they were going out of style... and the occasional Colorado Bulldog.

I am mostly a beer drinker ( I am having a Blue Moon right now), unless it is a holiday then I will indulge in a glass or 4 of wine - (LOL) but it has to be a Riesling or a Rheinhessen Liebfraumilch. My favorite beer to date would have to be Guinness

I will have a shot every so often and it is usually an "O-Bomb"

I too love me a Mudslide or a Margarita but mostly in the summer. And a shot of Carmel Baileys in my coffee on a cold afternoon watching football is always a plus

Most of the time I drink beer. Doesn't matter what kind. I'll take em' all...

However, I also love, love, love a good plain Margarita on the rocks with lots of salt.

There is also a drink at Cafe Bernardo in Davis called a Wicky Wacky Woo that is oh so yummy but after 2 you are on the floor they are so strong. I managed to get the recipe out of a cute waiter one night and now my bff and I have them at home.

I also like wine occasionally but hate the hangovers it gives. I'm on a white kick right now but have tons of red that we need to drink.

DH drinks Whiskey (Jim Beam or Jack Daniels) with Pepsi or Bud Light.

paralyzer is my drink of choice (or this past summer, a dosa-lyzer instead). Or Vodka Mudshakes (yummy!!!). And it's weird, cause I hate milk. lol
I do love some Mike's Hard Lemonade too, but I find I get wicked heartburn after drinking coolers.
Oh, and if I am at home, and just feel like a drink, I normally go for a Vodka w/ Diet Pepsi (although, some rotten child of mine got into my vodka and thought to replace what was taken with water ... totally ruined my good vodka!)
Shots ... Sex On The Beach - oh, so tasty!!

Deb and I will be the designated drivers. My drink of choice is diet Pepsi.

But when I did drink I liked vodka tonics, Cosmopolitans, sangria. I'm pretty clueless about alcohol.

I drink very little. Last year had maybe three alcoholic drinks and when I do drink its usually one possibly two but never more. For me though it is one of three drinks:

pina colada
ultimate junebug
captain and coke

I usually have a glass of wine when we go out to eat...assuming it isn't IHOP or Denny's.

It depends though. If we are at Chilis I have a strawberry mango margarita & if we are at the Japanese place I have sake. I might have an Irish coffee with my dessert some places depending what I ate & drank for dinner.

My very favorite drinks are hard cider & mead, both separately and mixed together in a 'beesting'. I prefer Woodchuck green apple cider but what I usually find in the stores around here is Hornsby regular. Mead is tricky to come by too and expensive usually. I never find cider or mead in restaurants

I don't drink at home often, only if we have company and I usually make Melon Margarita's.

When I go out it depends on where we go but it's either a Chocolate Martini or a Pomegranate Martini

My fave coctails are Cosmopolitan or Malibu Rum & Pineapple juice. For shots I love "Buttery Nipples". lol I like white or red wine as long as it's not too dry and the only beer I can drink is either Corona or Miller Light.

Oooo I love those Bellini's too, I usually only get them at Mac Grill.
at home, I have bottles of Kahlua and Godiva that I like to have with milk or add to some late nite cocoa.
when I want some special drinks at home, I get Mikes or Smirnoff.
at the bar I tend to stick with Malibu+Coke.

S*x on the Beach is my favorite drink, but pretty much any combination of vodka or rum + fruit juice is just fine. If I were to have some at home, it would just be a wine cooler.

I hate wine & beer and rarely drink, so I don't have much alcoholic drink knowledge. I hate actually tasting the alcohol, so almost all drinks are too strong for me and I end up drinking them verrrrrrrrrrry slowly.

I've only been to one place, which was a hotel bar in Chicago, where I had some kind of Bay Breeze something or other drink that was mixed SO well that I couldn't taste the alcohol at all. I had 3 of those, and boy, was I feelin' good! *lol*

Fave drink: white wine...very picky about it though

Bar drink: vodka and cranberry

Current drink: beer, preferrably a brown - so many good microbrews in the Pac NW!

Depends on mood, circumstances and the venue.

I don't like sweet stuff, so the only sweet drink I get is Kir Royal (champagne + creme de cassis) or Kir au vin blanc (white wine + creme de cassis).

As for mixed drinks, Caipirinha (cachaca + lime + sugar + crushed ice) is my favourite, closely followed by Mojito (white rum + lime + mint + sugar + crushed ice). If I feel like experimenting, I experiment. I also do mixed drinks myself, only when having visitors though.

When eating out or feeling like a drink during lunch, it's mostly wine, whatever kind, but I do prefer rosé and dry white to the rest (but this does depend from the food). I have taken a liking to Luxembourgish wines and Moselle wines in general, with Auxerrois, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay being my first choices.

I don't like real champagne that much, but I do like the Luxembourgish sparkling wine named crémant.

In Indian restaurants I take Indian beer, and if I feel like it I also take beer elsewhere.

If it's non-alcoholic it's either tea (green, rooibos, fruit, herbal, oolong, you name it, I just don't like black) or still water.

When I'm out its a margarita, mudslide or something similar.
At home its orange pineapple juice with Malibu or Gatorade and vodka/soju.

I don't really drink anymore but in my heyday I drank:

Sam Adams Beer
Bass Ale
Harp Lager
Bushmills/Jameson and Coke
Seven and Seven
Jack and Seven
Madras (orange juice, cranberry juice and vodka)
Bay Breeze (same as a Madras except instead of orange juice, pinapple juice)
Cap Cods (cranberry juice and vodka, twist of lime)
Shooters: Kamakazzis (I have no idea how to spell that!)

With a meal I'll have wine. I like Australian and Chiliean reds. After dinner an Irish coffee is sometimes nice. Out with friends I'll have a margarita or grapetini. Around the house in the evening I like Hornsby Crisp Apple Hard Cider. Mikes Pomegranate Lemonade is good too.

I hate beer, and I avoid wine because I prefer reds but I get migraines...

so on the rare occasion that I do drink, it's usually a margarita on the rocks (no salt) for me!

This fall on our vacation to Mexico I discovered the Mojito. YUM. I've tried to get them since we've been back, and none have been as good as those in MX though.

About all I ever order is a margarita on the rocks with salt or an amaretto sour. Loooove me an amaretto sour. Occasionally I'll drink Mike's or Smirnoff Ice Raspberry too.

I drink like once every five years at a wedding or reunion... and it's usually a white russian. As for shots, back a million years ago before I had kids (LOL), I liked SoCo and Lime.

Usually I will have wine with dinner when we go out and love a sparkling wine for a starter, a Bellini or Kir Royal are great too.

As far as cocktails go: Another girl who loves S.e.x. on the Beach. Usually I don't like cocktails where you taste a strong alcohol taste, kwim? I also have a great recipe for Grenada Punch, great for entertaining at a BBQ.

And I also like beer occassionally, especially when it is hot and I am very thirsty. To not get drunk I mix it with Sprite or Cola.

Otherwise, no hard stuff for me, like pure whiskey, etc., also no shots. I hate, hate, hate getting drunk, so I do not drink a lot.

I find it humorous that this thread was resurrected from a reply that appears to be spam.

I don't go out, but when I want to drink at home I buy Mudshakes (like Mudslides). I'm not a big drinker

I don't drink very often but on the odd occasion that I do it's usually smirnoff ice or orange vodka and sprite if I'm out. At home or hanging out with the girls- it's frozen midori sours.
