I decided to do the "scraplift yourself" challenge. It was fun going back through some of my old layouts and choosing one that I really loved to make new again. I did a pretty faithful lift of this layout, but it's always fun to see how different a scraplift can look depending on which kit you use. For my new layout, I used Meghan and Heather's kit My Everything, and I love the way it turned out!

I decided to use the #1 spot of "This I Year I am going...." I chose this challenge because I never really do resolutions but more of "goals" for the year. And I need to be remind myself of those so what better way than to do a layout. I feel like the last few years I've "fallen off the wagon" so it's time to get back on that wagon and get myself right.

I chose the "Combine Script and Sans Serif fonts in your journaling" challenge. I chose to make some of the words in script that really evoked the whole idea of the quote in the wordart. I used the arrows radiating from the photo to symbolize sunbeams.

I chose the "This Is Me" challenge prompt. 2014 was a big year for me...I turned 40 in June and I know it's just a number but 40 is definitely different than 30 and especially 20. I like myself at 40 and life is good. Amber and Libby's kit Take Flight was a perfect fit for the layout I was going for.

I took the prompt "A is for..." and went with "J is for..." to highlight some J words for my eldest daughter. I have so many cute photos of her highlighting her personality that Brook's Template was an awesome starting point for this fun scrapbooking page.

I chose the "make 1/3 of your a page a really big title"... titles seems to always be an afterthought for my page and then it's just crammed onto the page. For this challenge, I started with the title and built the page around it.

I did layout this for the polka dots & plaid challenge. I have to admit that those are two of my absolute favorite patterns, so this one didn't feel like too much of challenge. When I saw the papers in this kit by Meghan and Becca, I knew it would be perfect for this challenge.

I also went with the big title challenge for this page. I had decided to do a set of three layouts on my kids and for the older boys since the title would be "the two big brothers" I felt that the title should be, well, big. La's All A Glitter alpha is one of the two things that is in all three pages that tie them together, and since it was a nice big alpha it felt like my title was just meant to be big.

For the "This is Me" challenge, I approached it from my daughter's perspective and did a page all about her. While we were on holiday last week, I got my 8 and 11 yr old girls to interview each other. They got to make up the questions themselves. When I saw Heather's kit with the 4 alphas in it, it inspired me to be bold with the numbers and make a feature of each question/answer.

I also chose to do the "Icy colour scheme" challenge. Scrapping winter schemes is usually tricky for me, as our winters are mild, and we rarely go to the snow. The few snow photos I had, had already been scrapped, so for this challenge I searched my photos for one that would match Aly's Frosty Party kit. The light blues and the pinks worked well with a photo of my nieces. I kept it pretty simple, letting the photo and the title take center stage.

When I saw prompt #13 -to make a page about my Travel Bucket list I knew I had to do this challenge. I love to travel with my husband and look forward to our trips together each year. I've been wanting to document my travel bucket list but it seemed overwhelming and I wasn't sure how to organize it. When I saw Brook's Duo 1 ABC template I knew I had found the answer. All those cute little sections were just calling to be filled in with fun places I want to go.

I opted to be inspired by prompt #17. I'd say 95% of the time, journaling is the last thing I do on my pages...and I'm usually ready to be done with the page by then. So, usually I just do a quick paragraph right on the background paper or on a journaling card and call it quits. While I love journaling strips, I don't usually take the time to do them. That's why I took on this prompt. I need to put more effort into journal strips more often, cause I love them!

I loved the Journaling with Word Strip Challenge... as I'm an incredibly sappy and emotional journaler. So sometimes it's nice to let the word strips, word art and/or journal cards help me to find my voice. They often give me the jump start needed to get my own words to flow... and while I usually don't publish my personal journaling on my finished layouts, the words strips are there to help convey the thoughts and feelings that the page brought to life for me.
